So are they going to change the name from CL to S-coupe with this facelift, or wait till the next generation to make the name-change official?

I hope they are not putting the reverse lights there, that would be cheap and ugly.

And you could clearly see the reverse lights now.

I'm curious to see the new rear lights, with the new reverselights near the plate. Could end-up very well... or not.

The new shape of the front lights seem to be dicated by the fact it would have looked too busy with the LEDs indicators at the bottom in the rather small shape they had. And as the whole front has been modified to cope with the pedestrian regulations, why not changing the lights too?

Big FL indeed: new lower-part of the bootlid, new front area...

Big FL indeed which makes CL owners very woried as this could significantly drop the resale value of the current CL .I can't understand why mercedes is doing this with one of their most expensive model!!

To stay fresh and ahead of an ever stronger competition maybe, with an all-new 6er and some fine British or Italian automobiles...

You're kidding right? Facelifts have been the industry norm for many years now. Where have you been?

M

Yes FL are norm in the car industry but whenever the car is on the higher price tag, FL are usualy minor, these companies try to keep the car fresh without destroying the resale value of their cars ,this is what makes them special, you evolve the car with minor FL changes.

Mercedes has done a good job with the FL S class , A lot of people can't notice the diffrence

And this facelift is no different. There won't be any dramatic changes here either.

The SL was the one that got a dramatic facelift.

Resale value? Nothing is going to be destroyed with this facelift. Every car built takes a hit whenever it is updated or changed. Mercedes is no different. Destroyed? No. Take a small hit, yes.

Ugghhhh.
The chrome strips look totally out of place. Adding the quirky shape to the headlamps makes it look asian. Headlamps were what really looked nice on this car. They ruined that. Front bumper is way too sedanish. Needs its own style.

I do like the extra contours in the hood. Would love to have seen MB get rid of the falcon nose and impliment the SLS grill style into the FL.

I agree about the chrome strip, both on the front bumper and above the exhaust. Overdone.

I have my doubts on the front lights (previous ones where just nice), and I think the rear lights + reverse lights could really change the look of the rear (which was the car's weakpoint imo).

All ini all I feel this is gonna be a very nice FL.

Fake extensions have been added inside the licence plate recessed area anf FAKE reverse lights put on there. Let's not be fooled. No extra boot recess lights. You can see it clearly in this pic.
