S-Class W222 [Spyshots] Mercedes-Benz S-Class (W222) Facelift Spy Pics & Info

The Mercedes-Benz W222 is the sixth generation of the Mercedes Benz S-Class produced from 2013 to 2020, serving as the successor to the W221 S-Class and predecessor to the W223 S-Class. The W222 has a similar design theme to the C-Class (W205) and E-Class (W213).

What will happen to the non-Maybach S600? The grill used to differentiate the S600 externally from the others. Now it seems that all the cars will have the same grill. It seems to have almost gotten lost after the S600 Maybach was released. Perhaps they will change the Maybach to S680 and keep the S600 for the non-Maybach S class.

This makes perfect sense IMO. This makes the Maybach cars more excuslusive. Only they have the 650 and 680 tags.

MB had a S680 in the 30s

...and there were also 6.8 liter derivatives of the legendary 6.3 liter M100 V8 (M-B 600 sedan + Pullman as well as the W109 300SEL 6.3 sedan) back in the late 1960s' through 1972. In top tune, racing specification 6.8s' produced approx. 430HP (the outrageous European touring car series entry "Die Rote Sau" based on the W109 SEL). Several examples of the 6.8 with slightly more "pedestrian" specific outputs around 320-340HP found their way under the hoods of a choice few public-roadworthy "experimental" vehicles. A further derivative can be found in the engine bay of the W116 450SEL 6.9 of 1973-1979.

The angle of the camera on the top photo deceivingly projects the image of a low-slung, very sleek automobile. "CLS-like" if you will. And absolutely beautiful. A pity that it is a bit of an illusion. The W222/V222 is a rather "tall" vehicle.

Exactly.it's like yesterday when the car debuted at the Airbus delivering center back in May 2013.
Speaking of this, the whole presentation in the Airbus hangar was almost canceled because of the bad weather. If you watch the clip closely, at around 7:40 mark, you can actually hear the rain hitting the roof.

In the end debut went well and the rest, as they say, is history. Almost 4 years passed since this car was introduced

The Palladium Silver one still looks amazing, especially in non-AMG trim and these 20-inch 5-spoke wheels

Next we may see a S800 Maybach, that will be the luckiest car around.
