One example is the Mercedes CLK which became the E class coupe.
People here seem to be missing the point. The 6er GT is the new version of the previous 5er GT with its name changed and nothing more to it. Its a freaking name change. Deal with it.
There's a difference between saying "all new" and "first ever". In fact, the phrase "all new" implicitly requires there to have been one before. The phrase "first ever" implies that there has never been one of this kind before.
That's the difference.
BMW calling the 6er GT the "first ever" is ridiculous.
