The funny thing is the F/L G30 was nigh-on perfect. Give me a 540i Xdrive with M-sport pack in Carbon Blue and Cognac interior, and I'd be very content to have that as a daily driver. Bloody shame what this gen 5er has become.

Oh, I dunno...

As the G60/61 has grown on me, I am perceiving them to be "authentic BMWs" that convey at least elements of the brands heritage. IMHO, more than in direct comparision with the E39, that with the E60/61 makes this even more apparent.

Looks wise sure, but I had a G30 540i xDrive and that thing is just such a boat. Super numb steering and very floaty suspension.

If “authentic BMW” meant FWD like proportions, a bloated body, and a ton of crappy plastic in the interior, I would agree.

So BMW sells almost 40% more i5/5er than MB sells E/EQE

Over here in my country the gap is like 10 times as big. The EQE hardly even exists and the E class is on life support.

Too bad nobody who's getting one actually cares, but least we will get a proper facelift which will straighten that ugly face. This grille design is so f#cked up.

I just did a little research and it turns out the G60 is a sales failure compared to the previous 5 Series. Not only that, the G70 7 Series also lagged significantly behind previous generations. Bold designs weren't something anyone cared about.

F10, G30 and G60 first full year sales figures.

F10 (2011): 332,500
G30 (2018): 382,750
G60 (9 months 2025): 220,740 (290,000 for the full year)

Always trying to prove something…Ok, we get it. Go celebrate it and write a paragraph about how Mercedes is superior (!) to the BMW. Sigh.

It was written that the G30 failed because it continued the design of the F10, but the numbers say the opposite. Neue Klasse can correct this fiasco.
Fiasco? Lmfaooo. If you want a real “fiasco” example just look at your favorite mate. We saw how that one turned out. 🤣
