6 Series [Official] BMW 6er Gran Coupe

The BMW 6 Series is a range of grand tourers produced by BMW since 1976. It is the successor to the E9 Coupé. The first generation BMW E24 6 Series was available solely as a two-door coupé and produced from 1976 to 1989, when it was supplanted by the larger BMW 8 Series (E31). When the 6 Series nameplate was revived in 2004 for the second generation, the BMW E63/E64 6 Series, the coupé was joined by a convertible body style. The third generation F06/F12/F13 6 Series debuted in 2011 as a coupé and convertible, and a sedan variant known as the "Gran Coupé" in 2012. When the F06/F12/F13 6 Series ended production, the "Gran Coupé"/coupé/convertible models shifted into the more upmarket BMW 8 Series (G15) nameplate. The fourth generation 6 Series, the G32 6 Series, debuted in mid-2017 and is offered only as a fastback body style to complement the BMW 5 Series (G30) sedan/wagon.
Drove past the dealer about an hour ago, and they had a 6er GC - didn't get a good look, but from what I saw it looked AMAZING! Looks so good IRL, just as good as the CLS (for me at least). It really does look like a 4-door coupe, it seemed incredibly smooth!

Love, love, love the platinum/black merino leather look. Reminds me of the trench I bought recently:

Why couldn't it be a V8???? (wrings hands in despair)

Edited to add: I just went through that album of uploads. Those interior shots....I don't even know what to say, they are stunning!

^^ Certainly the best interior I have seen in a long time.
V8 650 GC with 445 hp is coming to US in fall.

Saw my first ever 6 series GC on the road, it doesn't quite pulled off the 4 door coupe look to me, at first I thought it was a lower and longer 5 series driving pass until I saw the back of the car.

To me it looks like what I would have expected the 2017 (next gen) 5-Series to look. It literally looks like the future version/evolution of that car. Makes me wonder what they'll do with the next 5-Series in that regard.

.... Actually I saw a 6 GC today next to a 5er and have some updated "thoughts".

The G6 is far more polarizing in terms of when it actually stuns you. For example, sometimes I look at it and think it looks weird (same goes for many "4 Door Coupes"), and often it just looks striking, stunning and simply epic on the roads.

However, the 5-Series ALWAYS looks good, maybe not as striking in some elements, but you can always be assured to see a 5er on the roads and never find it awkward or off-putting. The 6 GC has a tendency to make a regular 5-Series look quite dulled, but I think an M-Sport 5er with a hot color gives a 6GC a pretty strong run for its money even in the sexiness department, whilst naturally upholding that more conservative and understated approach.

I guess between the two, it kind of comes down to preference. Though, I think the 5er will definitely be the more timeless of the two.

I'm glad to see that some people have finally seen it in real life, and started realizing that it doesn't look as good as it does in pictures.

I checked one out inside out in a BMW showroom, and it just doesn't really impress me that much. In real life it looks like a sedan and even the greenhouse looks like a sedan's.

Different strokes for different folks ;) Don't call me a troll now, the CLS is a beautiful car too! Take some of the polarizing design away and you have a real stunner :D

I do agree the 6er GC looks weird sometimes from some angles. I dunno, but I get a Peugeot 607 vibe out of it sometimes, and that thought just doesn't disappear...
Maybe it's because we (I) still have to get used to the shape of a sedan that's trying to be a coupe. A 5er is a sedan like we've known for many decades, but cars like the CLS, A7, Panny and 6GC slightly change the meaning of that word.

No, Tom, I totally get the CLS and A7 as 4-door coupes.
They're sleek whereas the Panamera does not really claim itself as a coupe, and you know that, dear Bert.
But William, I'm telling you that a 6er looks more like a sedan compared to the rest of them.

Compared to a Aston Martin Rapide the latter of which I saw IRL at "Car Spa" in Sandhurst Johannesburg neither the CLS, A7 or 6GC looks like a coupe. I have seen all of them IRL, local Benz dealer has sold four CLS's and BMW dealer has sold two 6GC's. My hometown does not have a Audi dealer but sat in a A7 at JIMS. So my conclusion (IMO): TRUE FOUR DOOR COUPE: there is only but one and that is the Rapide.

Both the CLS and Panny are to fat and especially the CLS's lines too untidy. The A7's rear-end design as with the Panny's is too estate/blunt. The 6GC does look too sedan like. Mazerati Quad-Porte looks too sedan like also, mind you.o_O

Of these the "jokes" for four door coupes, the 6GC and A7 are the best looking IRL/IMO. The CLS has too much drama and the Panny is just huge. That said of all mentioned (except the Rapide who's the only 4-coupe) my money will still buy the Panamera;)

IF 4-door coupe floats my boat, no contest! The Rapide it will be. It's a Rembrandt, a masterpiece of design:love:

BMW Sportback Concept digitally imagined - photos

Inspired by 6-Series Gran Coupe

Turkish industrial design student Ismet Çevik has released several renders with his vision of a BMW Sportback Concept.
While the words "BMW" and "Sportback" don't really match that well, these renders do show off a strikingly appealing concept which unlike many recent digital illustrations out there seems feasible for production. These are the work of Ismet Çevik who probably got his inspiration from the 6-Series Gran Coupe and turned the four-door coupe into a more luxurious car without the rear doors.
The Turkish design student maintained many of the typical BMW styling cues but he mixed them with innovative features, such as the high-tech headlights which replace the company's familiar LED corona rings.

What a beautiful imagination I must say. Just beautiful.
