S-Class CL-Class Facelift (Spy Photos & info)

The Mercedes-Benz S-Class, formerly known as Sonderklasse, is a series of full-sized luxury sedans and coupés produced by Mercedes-Benz. The S-Class is the designation for top-of-the-line Mercedes-Benz models and was officially introduced in 1972 with the W116, and has remained in use ever since. The S-Class is the flagship vehicle for Mercedes-Benz, being positioned above the other Mercedes-Benz models.

Two points to consider with the CL facelift:
1. The CL is the lowest volume car MB makes, and CL customers hold on to their cars.
2. S sedan/coupe facelifts have always been minor due to the above reason. Think of the 126 and 140. The 1995 140 was a major facelift compared to the 126 in 1985/6.

Yes Untertürkheim, you are absolutely right!
As you alll know i own a 2008 CL63 and i mentioned it before: I would not be amused to see a serious CL FL! In fact there have been already some minor updates like the exterior mirros and so on.
As far as i´m concerned only the rear lights "need" a facelift. The back view is something i didn´t like very much. The S lights are much better looking. A combination of the new leds with the old colored stripes would be great.
Anything else... i don´t care.

BTW: Only TWO little months and then: C197!

There is absolutely nothing wrong with the CL in reality, i.e. on the road. It is still one of the best looking cars Mercedes makes.
Yes Merc1, you´re absolutely right too!

Reality and pictures... thats a big big difference!
In the papers almost every car looks good in some way. (Only the 5GT looks like s... but thats off topic! :D)
And there are some cars that look "only" good on pictures but gorgeous in real life! The CL is the best example for this, followed by the Panamera (wich i didn´t like on pictures at all but looks good in reality!)

Too many people forget about that.

My guess is that the CL FL will be similar to the S-Class with led's front and rear, tweaked exhaust outlets, updated navigation and some minor wood/leather rearrangements. The real change will be in the CL63 with the M157 engine replacement along with the MCT transmission. Just prior to the next generation CL, aka S-Coupe, there will be a 420hp 5.5tt CL550/S550 replacement. Maybe.

This might not necessarily mean the CL will keep its name but the US press release for 2011 MY talks about the new CL 550 with the new 4.7 biturbo-V8 and CL 63 AMG with the new 5.5 biturbo-V8. It's a strong indication that it will, though.

GBOY, how's the new haircut? :D

Fake extensions have been added inside the licence plate recessed area anf FAKE reverse lights put on there. Let's not be fooled. No extra boot recess lights. You can see it clearly in this pic.

Unfortunately GBOY, I'm pretty sure you're wrong. Those are real.

I will shave my head if I am :)

I hate reverse lamps that flank the license plate. It looks cheap, and like a 70s or 80s Cadillac.

Should be a monster with the new 5.5L turbo V8. Of course the only way to go is the 571hp option.

M

They rear is gonna be a disaster with the lights entirely red and the backlights next to the license plate.
