A7/S7/RS7 [Spyshots] 2018 Audi A7 (gen II)

It looks a bit sleeker than current A7, which is great. I hope it will get proportions similar to the concept A7.

It's an odd thing with Audis' in general:

The cloaked pre-production prototypes are usually so..."unphotogenic". Proportions often appear ungainly and difficult for the eye to decipher. Of course, details that not only accentuate but, in many cases, are highly instrumental in defining the car are hidden under that thick foil.

Personally, I was left far less than enthused when viewing images of the D5 A8 prototypes. But the most recent "Spiderman Homecoming" and Audi design teasers leave me far more optimistic. The new A8 may just surprise a good number of sceptics when it is unveiled in Barcelona tomorrow. And who knows ?...perhaps the uncloaked series II A7 will turn out to be downright spectacular.

The only problem I had with the current A7 was the rear this one seems to have fixed it .

The current A7/S7/RS7 is my favorite Audi model line. I suspect that this will not change when the series II cars are presented. Things are looking promising. And judging from these photographs, it appears that Audi designers have successfully addressed that "large land mammal defecating" look that has so-often been criticised. This never really struck my eye when scrutinizing the current A7 in the metal, but I registered at least hints of this in photographs. The only questionable element of the current cars' exterior design methinks. With this corrected, I anticipate a perhaps monumental example of automotive exterior design.

I suspect that the A7 is the "more relevant" car for its' home (and EU) market. As mentioned previously, it appears that the new A8 was developed (primarily) for the Chinese and North American markets. In general, the so-called "Luxus-Klasse" (M-B S-Class, BMW 7 series, Audi A8) are hardly "unit sales titans" over here, the far more understated "Oberklasse" entries (E-Class + derivatives, 5er, A6/A7) selling in far more plentiful numbers. The affluent will opt to roll in lavishly configured yet less conspicuous Oberklasse automobiles. Or purchase a 911 Carrera. Here in my neck of the woods, it appears to me that A7s' are far more plentiful than CLS' or BMW 6er GCs'.

Artist rendering of the upcoming C8 A7/S7

Our benevolent overlords at Internet Brands sent along this artist’s rendering of what the upcoming C8 platform A7/S7 might look like. They based their designs on the various heavily camouflaged A7s seen running around Germany, and we think they have the grille and some other details of the front pretty close to what it might look like.

As for the side of the car, it’s difficult to tell, but it does appear that the artist tried to give this rendering a similar line to the test mules, but it’s very hard to say for sure.

From what we can tell from the test cars, the new A7 appears to be less aggressively sculpted than the A5 sportback, and it appears to not have the aggressive lines on the hood.

We are excited to see what Audi has in store for the upcoming A7. We love the current car, and we really like the direction Audi is taking with their designs, so it should be awesome!

I anticipate a car that adheres to the Prologue Concept Coupes' design paradigm more than any other Audi model. Attempting to envisage the Prologue with a rakish 4 door fastback greenhouse will probably be quite close to the mark.

Sorry but it is not true. The car will have aggressive lines on the hood like A5. Just look at the spy shots from previous page.
Also the new S-line does not looks like on this render. New S-line have free space under the grille like new A5.

The proloque if anything previewed the new A8.

Also the new S-line does not looks like on this render. New S-line have free space under the grille like new A5.

Yes, the render uses the current A7 with parts from the new A5 and A8. But the majority is the old A7 body.

The shallower greenhouse and what appears to be a substantially more rakish windscreen leave me hopeful that the series II A7 will be visually far more graceful than the, from some angles, highly questionable D5 A8. Here in the EU, the new A7 and especially new A6 will be crucial automobiles. Those are the cars that will determine whether existing and potential Audi customers are convinced that the brand has genuinely opened a new chapter regarding exterior as well as interior design. In this particular context, the new A8 has not presented the most compelling evidence.

Spied: 2019 Audi A7 takes shape

Audi's new A7 is nearly ready for its global debut.

Audi's next-generation A7 hatchback has been spotted undergoing shakedown testing in Europe. The new A7 is expected to be introduced this year as a 2019 model.

Today's testing went far better than the last time we saw the A7 out for a shakedown run. In June a prototype for the new A7 went up in flames during hill testing in the Alps.

Without fire obstructing our view, we can see that the new A7 will retain the same general shape that made the current car such a hit. However, other details will be refined, such as a new front fascia with an updated version of Audi's single-frame grille. In the back, the A7 will receive a new taillight treatment that includes a connecting LED strip.

Inside you can look for the A7 to follow the basic design laid out by other modern Audis, including the company's digital cockpit display.

Powertrains for the new A7 range shouldn't vary dramatically from today's offerings, but we've heard rumblings that Audi might introduce a hydrogen fuel-cell version. That model might not launch for a few years, however.

Audi hasn't announced where we'll first lay eyes on the 2019 A7, but the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show is a distinct possibility.

A good time indeed for fans of the upper-segment 4-5 door "coupe-sedan" genre. The A7/S7/RS7...M-B CLS + AMG GT 4(5) door...the relatively new Panamera II...

High time for the first production-bodied BMW 8-series GC prototypes to appear.
