Is Audi Planning Diesel Versions Of Next S6 And S7 To Go After BMW's M550d?

While politicians in many countries have expressed their desire to ban diesel (and petrol) vehicles over the next decades, Audi is said to be looking to offer oil-burning versions of the new-gen S6 and S7.
Motor1 France, the gasoline-powered S6 and S7 models could be followed by diesel variants, a decision that's apparently fueled by the success of the SQ5 and SQ7.

The latter won't reportedly lend its V8 to the two sporty executive cars, as these are expected to be powered by a unit based on the 3.0-liter V6 TDI that's currently used on the A6 and A7 Competition, where it makes 326PS (321hp). However, the engine is believed to benefit from "a healthy power boost", which will help it draw a clear line between the S6/S7 and the regular versions.

If this is indeed the case, then the two sporty executive cars will challenge the likes of the BMW M550d saloon and wagon, which have a 3.0-liter straight-six quad-turbo diesel engine under their hoods, that's rated at 400PS (394hp) and 760Nm (561lb-ft) of torque.

Indeed, the 4L TTs will be around for several years & hybrid allows for the engine to not be over-stressed (even though engine power figures are underrated).

A pretty slow evolution if you ask me ....it's just as well the A7 is such a good-looking car.

The A7 has been a successful car for Audi, boasting impressive unit sales as well as being the recipient of numerous design accolades. Arguably "iconic", I can see the justification in Audi embarking on an "evolutionary path" when it comes to the A7 line.

I'm not sure if the new Audi A7 is more like Audi Prologue or Huyndai Elantra
I really like A7. It is my favourite car, but this one is not as good as I expected.

Kinda wierd to see a Hyundai that shares so many design cues with Audi's current design language. The single frame grill of the Hyundai looks like directly taken out of an Audi-assembly.
