A7/S7/RS7 [Spyshots] 2018 Audi A7 (gen II)

I'm looking forward to see the next generation of A6, A7 and A8. Especially the interior.

Audi has been working on a replacement of the current A7 for a while and it seems that the Germans have finally settled on a date for its launch.

A report from France's AutomobileMag says it will debut at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show, with a plug-in hybrid to be part of the family. The PHEV will use a four-cylinder gasoline engine mated to an electric motor. Six- and eight-cylinder petrol and diesel engines will be part of the regular lineup, with the S7 using a twin-turbo V6, and the RS7 a twin-turbo V8.

Built on the latest iteration of the MLB Evo platform, the new Audi A7 should be around 100 kg (220 lbs) lighter than its predecessor. It's also believed to be a tad shorter, though its length will remain close to five meters.

On the outside, Audi's large four-door coupe will be inspired by the Prologue concept, just like the next A6 and A8. Inside, it will have completely new layout, similar to the Q8 concept with a Virtual Cockpit instead of analogue dials, and two touchscreen displays to control the main functions, though in an attempt to reduce the number of buttons, the Germans will might drop the MMI wheel.

The 2018 Audi A7 will be packed with technology, from gesture control to voice control, and self-parking to smartphone-controlling the car. Moreover, the list of features will include the latest active safety and semi-autonomous systems as well.

This looks like an edgier evolution of the current model, I am not impressed by the new grill and headlight arrangement. I am not liking Audi's new styling direction, I think they have lost their way to making really good looking cars like previous gen models. This looks too conservative.

Totally agree. There was a glimpse of hope with the new A5 with its somewhat different headlights which remind me of the previous Q7 and Avantissimo concept. So I thought that Audi design had gone a different direction, but the new A6, A7 and A8 show absolutely zero difference.

Looking good thus far, albeit just an evolution of the quite-handsome predecessor....Looking forward to seeing it in its full glory

The A/S7 will more than likely look better than the A/S8. There is also hope for the Q8.

For an automobile that was first presented in EU dealership showrooms some 6 1/2 years ago, the Audi A7/S7/RS7 remains quite alluring. Arguably quite the icon. With this in mind, it is understandable that Audi has apparently opted for an "evolutionary approach" concerning the 2nd-gen models.

However, the previous demonstrative haralding of a "new design paradigm", at least with regard to the cars' exterior, seems to have been replaced by a far more cautious, subdued, hushed whisper. A pity perhaps. Yet still, it will be interesting to see what appears when the wrap comes off.

It looks rather nice from this perspective. Low and wide-tracked with a very impressive stance.
So far, the profile shots have left me apprehensive.

The best looking car Audi has ever made (along with R8), they should not mess that one up, the current A7 FL exterior still looks fresh, the interior is outdated though.

Let's see what Audi designers have below their sleeves.

Audi

Audi AG is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury vehicles headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. A subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, the company’s origins date back to the early 20th century and the initial enterprises (Horch and the Audiwerke) founded by engineer August Horch (1868–1951). Two other manufacturers (DKW and Wanderer) also contributed to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932. The modern Audi era began in the 1960s, when Volkswagen acquired Auto Union from Daimler-Benz, and merged it with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969.
