A8/S8 [Spyshots] 2018 Audi A8 Spy Pics & Info

It's S600 vs Audi A8 W12 and S63 vs S8 vs M760i. I mean S600, Audi W12 and S65 are for customers that want to brag about how they got 12 cylinders and others are peasants for having 8 and less cylinders. S63 is far better than S65.
This is the luxury segment and being faster doesn't mean that its better. Do you think that the customers of S65 are stupid for not buying an S63?

Since facelift S63 is faster, lighter, better gearbox, better fuel economy, can switch from AWD to RWD when you want it. And it's 60-70k cheaper. I don't think that V12 smoothness is worth over 220k for engine that is over 10 years old.

S8 is sportier and is equipped with a V8. A8 W12 will be more luxurious, but has the drawback of the "W" form of the engine block and the inferior balance that comes with it. So it has to show something more in order to be competitive to the other two.

What's the drawback? From where I look it's a more compact power unit than a traditional V12, it's not really a W either, its a compact V12 with offset bore spacing, I think they only call it a W12 for marketing reasons.

An actual W12 should have three banks of cylinders, like this.

It's an absolute "W" and the firing order is not equal so far from perfect balance (per ervolution the 12 cylinder has 6 firings and the perfect balance is when you have a firing each 60 degrees of the crank shaft, with the W12 this is impossible, I don't know what exacly is the degree between the cylinders in the common part of the block but it schould be something like 15 degrees, so the firing order will be 1st - 2nd after 45 degrees, 3th after75 degrees, 4th after 45 and so on

It's absolutely not a W, a proper W configuration like the Life F1 engine in the photo above use's 3 banks of 4 cylinders, VW's engine is not like this at all, it's 2 VR6 heads sharing the same block.

This is how VW describe the naming convention for the W12

When the W engine is viewed from the front, the
cylinder arrangement looks like a double-V.
Put the two Vs of the right and left cylinder banks
together, and you get a W. This is how the name
"W engine" came about.

I've have gone with Double V as the name, it sounds way cooler than W and reflects what it really is.

We've been here before and this subject defies a definitive outcome:
This is a true W: \/\/ and this is not a true W: \|/ (your W)
However, in written script this is also a W:

Which, technically, is closer to this: \|/ (your W)
And a camel toe.

Granted, we haven't seen the car properly (Well, Busty has seen a good chunk of it), but I am pretty skeptical when it comes to the exterior. Though I am looking forward to see what they did with the interior.

They show quite a bit of the car in Spiderman homecoming. But nothing you haven't seen before.

There was a really cheesy moment in the movie where Happy is sitting in the drivers seat and the car is driving itself and then he turns around and says to Peter in the back seat "Isn't it beautiful" while the camera pans from Peter and moves over the dashboard and then shows the new Avengers facility.

Audi

Audi AG is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury vehicles headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. A subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, the company’s origins date back to the early 20th century and the initial enterprises (Horch and the Audiwerke) founded by engineer August Horch (1868–1951). Two other manufacturers (DKW and Wanderer) also contributed to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932. The modern Audi era began in the 1960s, when Volkswagen acquired Auto Union from Daimler-Benz, and merged it with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969.
