Of course they can. First the issues of the V8 are long known internally, so maybe this redesig began an year ago. Second the car should not be redesigned substantionally, because the engine bay is for sure big enough for the I6. They only had to redesign the position of some periphery agregats and the exhaust.
How do you imagine, after the temporary stop of the V8, that Daimler would bring the SL with only the four cylinder engine?
Of course they will make all that's necessary to have the I6 working in the engine bay.
Can I have the lottery numbers, or what the next hot stocks are too? I mean you seem to know everything else. This is all junk you are coming up with because you want to create a problem where there isn’t one. You don’t fit a new engine in a few months and if they prepared for it a year ago then there isn’t a delay. File this under the same pile of nonsense where you said that Jaguar was in better shape than Mercedes. You don’t know what you’re talking about. Wild baseless speculation. No facts.

But you forget that this time the SL is developped by the AMG department and all AMG V8 are stopped.

The stoppage wasn't specific to AMG V8s, as otherwise the G550 (and GLE/GLS580, etc.) wouldn't have also been cancelled for MY2022. The S-class was made a priority to ship with V8s.

Sorry but it is too much for you to understand.

Looks like the AMG V8s are stopped due to emissions non-compliament. That would explain why the non AMG V8 is good for the lighter and more aerodynamic S class but not for the G class

I have no idea, but I find that more likely than them redesigning the SL last minute to accommodate the I6. No worries, we won't need to wait too long to hear the real story.

Edit: Sorry I couldn't write it separately.

I don't buy the version for the completely new platform. No one invest so much money in an ICE platform anymore, especially if yhere won't be a new E class. IMO this "new" platform is only a tweaked AMG 4 door/ E class estate platform and in that way it must be easy to transplant the I6 53 and the whole engine bay from the AMG GT53 4 door.

NOTE: I did not say the 2nd quote in the above post. CrunchSlaughtered made a formatting error.

That doesn't make much sense to me, sorry. And Mercedes seems to be changing their story given the latest word is that it was a "quality" issue.

I find the AMG GT 4-door theory to be entirely bizarre. The MRA platform is old and the MSA sports car platform was announced to be in development back in 2016. This wasn't a recent development. And why would they saddle dedicated sports cars with a higher center of gravity that is inherit with using a platform made with sedans and wagons and CUVs? Why would they use the AMG GT 4 door modifications to the MRA platform for a convertible, which doesn't need the wagon's floorpan? Both the GT 4-door and wagon are almost 200" long. It's just not adding up.

Remember this car is being twinned with the AMG GT, which is supposed to be as hardcore as ever.

He doesn't know what he's talking about, I wouldn't even try to explain or entertain it. It's all baseless speculation to put it mildly.

Of course it's speculation. If you want to read only facts go to wikipedia.com. Here anybody is entitled to have his opinion, speculations and dreams, provided that they are not stated as facts.

Baseless speculation. What next, the Unimog platform being used for the GLS?

M

You won't ever know if anything was delayed or not or what their original plan was or wasn't. So no we won't see anything that will verify your baseless speculations.

We can see whether there is a V8 or not and how different the SL is from the AMG GT 4 door (by the means of drive train and suspension).

There will be a V8 and a lot of Mercedes' already share the same and/or similar suspension designs and drivetrains. That doesn't prove squat other than it's a Mercedes-Benz. You're drunk, go home.

FYI I don't dring and I don't have to go home, because I'm already there. Try with something more inteligent.

Apply that intelligent premise to you arguments. Next time try at least spell it right.

My spelling is far from perfect but to put things on an equal basis I offer you to continue the discussion in one of the following languages, which are as forigner to me as to you:
1. German 2. French 3. Greek 4. Russion
And then we can compare our spelling.
