Now, Mercedes-Benz have really hit the dead end of their design philosophy. It seems that Wagener can't come up with anything fresh and new, just the same pile of Sensual Purity rubbish. If this is really the best design in their yard as they say, I wonder which is the worst.

That may be a bit harsh. But I can generally catch the drift.

The new SL, as unoffensive and pleasant it's exterior design may be, is not very..."original". It's a product of corporate signature design piecemeal, a good number of elements found in the far more pedestrian brand offerings. Fans of Gorden Wagener's design exercises will rejoice. Perhaps in numbers that will declare the car a commercial success. An easy on the eye segment entry that poses little if any threat to the likes of...say...the Porsche 992 Carreras. It may catch the eye of a BMW G14 owner or two.

Man, it could be worse. Imagine if after Wagener comes a dude from Skoda and sticks Skoda front ends to MBs.
