Macan [Renders] 2021 Porsche Macan E

The Porsche Macan is a compact luxury crossover SUV (D-segment) produced by Porsche since 2014. It is the smaller SUV from Porsche below the Cayenne. The first-generation Macan went on production from February 2014 with petrol and diesel engine options. In 2024, Porsche released the second-generation Macan which is a battery electric vehicle built on the dedicated Premium Platform Electric (PPE) EV platform.
I was initially quoted March next year for my Turbo a few weeks ago, but production was suddenly brought forward and now it looks like it will be at the dealer some time next month. I'm not going to take delivery until early January though.

Oh yes. Still have the MB C 200 AMG Line, and will until September 2026. Also the R8 V10, which will remain with me indefinitely. And a VW Polo 1.2 TSI at our second home in London.

The i5 will go at the end of May next year.

Correct.
Is the Taycan gone or will it be returned when the Macan is picked up?

I saw my first one:

This will be hugely popular over here!
It needs a rear spoiler to reduce the diaper bum look.

The most worrisome part of the review is when Harry mentions how EVs tend to offer a very similar driving experience and how, while no doubt the Macan is quite sophisticated, other much cheaper alternatives offer a similar fun.

Since we have several members on this forum who have tested or even owned Porsche EVs, I am curious to see whether they agree or not.

This is no different for ICE cars. The RSQ8 matches the Bentyga 95% for performance, tech, refinement and handling. Yet people happily pay 2-3x just for the lambo badge.

Yup, but in this case I think he was referring to cars from cheaper brands, like Tesla or the Chinese.

Truly dislike this car. I have major difficulties with this being a Porsche, and I don't see it other than the logo on the steering wheel.
Depressing interior, fugly rear and awkward profile don't help at all.

It's going to be popular here though. It already is in fact.

Ermmm thats completely different to what harry has said.

I dont think any one is under any illusion in what they are getting when they are buying a badge engineered VAG product.

But a VAG MERCEDES and BMW all drive differently.

went to the local dealer a few weeks ago, it had so many of their BEVs on the lot. So many. The Macan EV looked pretty terrible. Then again, I am not fond with Porsche's current design details. The new Panny there looks comparatively robotic compared to its predecessor. I fear what was Porsche's non-stop upward trajectory is taking a bit of hit.

Both Macan and Panamera lost its elegance and German identity, their too Chinese. Even with the facelift Taycan they did a bad job, it looks too bland now.
As a Porsche fan I don't like the new design direction and especially the cheap interiors of base trims.

This could be applied to many examples of the last 40 years. It's got nothing to do with it being an EV.

I watch YouTube car reviewers without taking any of them too seriously. The very nature of how social media works, there needs to be an "angle"; a "shock" value. Moderate views will not get anywhere near as much attention as extreme views. That new legendary car everybody is waiting for? "SHOCK: It's awful". Then a few months later; "You know how everybody has been hating on [insert name of car]? I'm here to tell you why they're wrong". Rinse and repeat.

The comments sections are full of people who have strong negative opinions about a car they're not in the market for, and will never own. Some get quite angry! 😂

For those that are and have driven the Macan Turbo, the world still revolves and they'll be happy with a fast, comfortable, very responsive, sporty SUV, with more interior space. That it also costs a quarter of the running costs of the previous Macan is a bonus.

I saw my Macan Turbo for the first time last week. I'm taking delivery just after the new year. I've driven a demo for several hours on two occasions. It's a superb SUV. Period.

Looks-wise, I think the front is stunning, and the back is less convincing but it's still not at all an ugly car.
