That's and truly depicts the concept of "different strokes for different folks" because I think the A8's interior is the most bland and most generic of any of its F-Segment peers, even the homely LS.
This new Q-Porte interior IMO is extremely avant-garde and highly elegant. I also love the increase in length/lergroom, which was my only real gripe with the last gen. Exterior is much, much better than expected and perfectly simple, and I am absolutely smitten with that body work. I can honestly say I have a new found interest in the Quattroporte.
Platform: Maserati and Ferrari aren’t gung-ho on naming and branding their automotive architecture like VW is, but this rear-drive platform is largely new. Liberal use of aluminum will cut at least 400 pounds from the current Quattroporte’s weight, a portly 4400-pound cruiser in our last test.
It’s on the inside that we spot the most evidence that the Quattroporte is based on a Chrysler 300 — the headlight and power-window switchgear are clearly stolen from Chrysler’s big sedan. The intricate, blue-lit gauges; fancy electronic shifter; and elegant wood dashboard trim are clearly designed for Maserati, yet the overall layout of the dashboard and center stack recall that of the 300. At least the interior looks considerably more expensive and sumptuous: witness the presence of leather trim on the door panels, rear-seat DVD players, and a large center console between the two rear seats.
Then again:
So yes, Chrysler and FIAT are in cahoots, there's no arguing that, but would that automatically mean that they are using the same or similar platform? No. The reason why they probably used a 300C/Charger interior during protype testing is that they are probably utilizing the same uDrive telematics. Now, I could be wrong as no official words regarding this has been released either from Maserati or some reputable source. But I'd wager dollars to donuts that it's not on a 300C/Charger platform. Even the interior as a whole does not give off a Chrysler vibe.
^ No way of knowing that until more info is released. To say forget Chrysler is being in denial, serious denial.
Who said it "automatically" means that they're sharing? Forget the word play, you get what I'm saying here. The car is likely based on the 300, with 2 mags saying different things. No way of really knowing until the car is released to the press for testing/drives/etc. We'll see.

I don't think using some Chrysler switch gear is that bad, the previous car uses plenty of buttons from Fiat.An alternative to the Germans for sure but that interior.... Big let down in my opinion. And the whole Chrysler discussion...that as far as I am concerned, enough reason not want it.
