Quattroporte [Official] Maserati Quattroporte (VI)

The Maserati Quattroporte is a four-door full-size luxury sedan produced by Maserati. The name translated from Italian means "four doors".
Am i the only one who doesn't dig the exterior Style?

Too (Infinity) for me!

That's and truly depicts the concept of "different strokes for different folks" because I think the A8's interior is the most bland and most generic of any of its F-Segment peers, even the homely LS.

This new Q-Porte interior IMO is extremely avant-garde and highly elegant. I also love the increase in length/lergroom, which was my only real gripe with the last gen. Exterior is much, much better than expected and perfectly simple, and I am absolutely smitten with that body work. I can honestly say I have a new found interest in the Quattroporte.

So true, the A8 is a "button fest" that looks out of place in a high end car. I love the simple, clean look of this QP interior. Thankfully, there is no Chrysler 300C look to it.

Meh... It needs to grow on me. The rear looks very Audish, which is good, cause Audi butts always look good.

love the looks
i just wonder why all manufacturers dont make their navigation screens higher up the console, just like bmw, mercedes and audi does. that improves safety and is way more natural to look at

Platform: Maserati and Ferrari aren’t gung-ho on naming and branding their automotive architecture like VW is, but this rear-drive platform is largely new. Liberal use of aluminum will cut at least 400 pounds from the current Quattroporte’s weight, a portly 4400-pound cruiser in our last test.

That is encouraging. I really don't want this car to be based on anything handed down from Mercedes and Chrysler.

Then again:

It’s on the inside that we spot the most evidence that the Quattroporte is based on a Chrysler 300 — the headlight and power-window switchgear are clearly stolen from Chrysler’s big sedan. The intricate, blue-lit gauges; fancy electronic shifter; and elegant wood dashboard trim are clearly designed for Maserati, yet the overall layout of the dashboard and center stack recall that of the 300. At least the interior looks considerably more expensive and sumptuous: witness the presence of leather trim on the door panels, rear-seat DVD players, and a large center console between the two rear seats.

Hi guys, hope you don't mind me responding to Merc1 from the spy thread as I couldn't before the lock.

Mods, if this is in fact, inappropriate feel free to delete this post and any associated posts. Thanks :)

"So in other words you don't have anything that says otherwise, about it not being based on a Chrysler.

Why on earth would they use a Chrysler as a base if that wasn't the donor platform. Come on now. The latest interior pics are still of a fancy, glossed over Chrysler interior. Clearly the car is going to use the bones of the 300, going by the pics.

M"

So yes, Chrysler and FIAT are in cahoots, there's no arguing that, but would that automatically mean that they are using the same or similar platform? No. The reason why they probably used a 300C/Charger interior during protype testing is that they are probably utilizing the same uDrive telematics. Now, I could be wrong as no official words regarding this has been released either from Maserati or some reputable source. But I'd wager dollars to donuts that it's not on a 300C/Charger platform. Even the interior as a whole does not give off a Chrysler vibe.

Now regarding the car itself...I quite like it except the headlights, which is too busy for my taste. If they do take care of the reliability aspect of it (which I doubt), it's hard to argue getting a more mainstream plutocrat-mobile over this. THose leather seats look soooo creamy. Curious to see what the engine line-up is looking like. I'm hoping all this talk about "Ferrari and Maserati" engineers working on the powerplants does not mean they worked on a Chysler-sourced V6....but I got a sneaking suspicion it might. And no mention about "aluminum body/chassis" and it being "under 2000 kg" from what I read, but who knows? I might be pleasantly surprised once more info is released.

merc1, you just got in before me! :D

Based on what you posted, I can't help but have the same reaction....

*SIGH*

I'm going to have to read more details tonight after I'm done studying.

I think its based on Infinity M56?

Then again:

That Maserati would get Chrysler electronics is true. But that is the only thing, and not a bad one, as if you look at current Maseratis, they have many electronic problems. The article is wrong, even if the windows switches are the 'same', they are not just taken directly from the Chrysler interior, they have added chrome inserts in them. The start button is not. The gauges are completely different, and blue color has always been used in recent Maseratis. The only details I ses directly from the 300C/Thema are, the light knob, probably pedals and not sure about, side mirrors. So stupid, these journalists see wrong things. They never saw the Aventador ripped of an Audi interior? That is much worse for me.

Look the vidoe, they explicitly say "the new Quattroporte is based on an evolution of the previous one".

Please guys, forget Chrysler. This is pure Maserati. I'm so glad and relieved about that. I don't care about the SUV.

^ No way of knowing that until more info is released. To say forget Chrysler is being in denial, serious denial.

Who said it "automatically" means that they're sharing? Forget the word play, you get what I'm saying here. The car is likely based on the 300, with 2 mags saying different things. No way of really knowing until the car is released to the press for testing/drives/etc. We'll see.

Quite probably. But I wish and hope I am right.

It looks like there is an intercooler. Also the engine bay pic looks like it is a V8 with two turbos, as it has two intake. It is not like the NA 4.7l V8 with a central intake.

And like the GranTurismo S with its 440 PS

and the GranTurismo Sport with its 460 PS

so the QP 2013 may really have 530 PS, what is quite alot more than the rumored 500 PS from the V8 and 400 PS from the V6.

Probably one of the first recent Maseratis that will match and have a chance against the competition.

From an italian forum:

lenght - 5,26m
V6 Turbo 410PS
V8 Turbo 530PS
V6 Diesel in September 2013
AWD possible

On V6 there is no info yet. It could also be a V6 Compressor. This engine should be found under in one of the coming Alfa.

An alternative to the Germans for sure but that interior.... Big let down in my opinion. And the whole Chrysler discussion...that as far as I am concerned, enough reason not want it.

look good in and out....but not sure about the quality and maintainance(n)

I don't think using some Chrysler switch gear is that bad, the previous car uses plenty of buttons from Fiat.

To all those who thinks the new car is some cheap design rip off, what is Maserati suppose to do when other companies use the Quattroporte as their inspiration to design their cars? When it is time for Maserati to launch the replacement, people are accusing them for copying from those who copied Maserati in the first place?

To me, the exterior styling of the new generation is quite clearly an evolution of the current one. The front grill is set as low as before, the shoulder line which kicks up over the rear wheels has been accentuated on the new car, the overall shape of the side windows are the very similar, it is now more elongated and more tapered towards the end. Overall I think it is a very nicely done update on the styling theme set by the current car.
