The Mercedes-Benz GL-Class was first introduced in 2006 and didn’t appear in most markets until a year after this, but despite its relatively young age engineers are already hard at work testing prototypes for an updated version of the SUV. Like the facelifted ML-Class introduced earlier this year, the 2010 GL will only receive a few minor styling updates as revealed by these latest spy shots.

The test vehicle seen here is sporting a new set of headlights, with the indicators moved to the outer corners. The shots of the rear also reveal some camouflage material over a set of newly designed, while the exhaust pipes also receive an update.
Mercedes is unlikely to change the GL’s powertrain lineup as the is still in its first generation. This means that the current GL 320 and 420 CDIs, including the Bluetech clean- Desiels, plus the GL450 and 550 models will still fill out the range. However, there could be a number of modifications to the exhaust filtering systems to help improve emissions - especially with the diesel models - as revealed by the new exhaust pipes.
The interior should also receive a number of trim and specification updates but we’ll have to wait until the new is released next year to get a detailed look. Mercedes is currently testing a number of updated models, including facelifted versions of the CL coupe and the S-class sedan.

When do we expect this facelift and it seems to have led fogs.
The rear lights dont seem to have the chrome pieces like the current gl and also it seems very red.
I see that they have added a piec to the fenders that should give it a more aggresive look.
I personally dont think the car needs a exterior facelift as yet.
Inetrior wise i suppose it can do with a new command.
Hope it dont outdate my gl lol.....

Forget to add ..glad mb is changing the rear view mirrors the current one is too small for such a big car..

LED's will look cool, but sad to see the chrome go on the tailghts. New Front bumper looks more aggressive.

I like the green colour. MB are really cleaning out the closet with the "Chrysler era" design cues.

Want a real SUV, get an X5, want something outstanding and big with presence, get an X6, these rubbish Mercedes are just so boring - to look at, to drive and to live with. That's why you don't see many of them.

^LMAO, MORON^

Who wants a 4wd van?

^LMAO, MORON^

Here in Miami, there are far more GL's than X5's and X6's combined. I am actually amazed that I don't see very many X5's. I see more Q7's ML's GL's Cayenne's than X5's and have only seen 3 X6's in my life.

Detroit showing I'm sure, not a big facelift or major model like the S/CL or new CLK/E.

Looks good. I'm a fan ever since I've driven the GL420 CDI....what a monster :D
This facelift seems to be an improvement. The LED DRL look nice, and the new front overall looks fresher.

That last green one looks quite foul to me. I think I'm gonna really dislike what they have done with the front bumper/grill.

If you're meaning the giant grille, it's not the FL. This enormous grille is already there on US models (V8s if I recall well), going also with wheel archs extensers. Only US, though.

Yep that is more or less the grille on our GL550.

Wow, different strokes for different folks right ....???, cos I absolutely love the GL550 look.

Re: Gl facelift thread

The mirrors have nothing to do with the facelift - they are already in use for the current GL production line. But the steering wheel is definitely a new one…

…well, just checked the Mercedes Benz homepage! Even the steering wheel is available on the current GL…it looks like the have change these little parts with the ML facelift.

Re: Gl facelift thread

Just checked it again - and YES it has nothing to do with the Facelift…

The shown car has its first registration last month (11/2008)!

and this one is from (09/2008) and has also those mirrors etc:
