S-Class CL-Class Facelift (Spy Photos & info)

The Mercedes-Benz S-Class, formerly known as Sonderklasse, is a series of full-sized luxury sedans and coupés produced by Mercedes-Benz. The S-Class is the designation for top-of-the-line Mercedes-Benz models and was officially introduced in 1972 with the W116, and has remained in use ever since. The S-Class is the flagship vehicle for Mercedes-Benz, being positioned above the other Mercedes-Benz models.

Yep, the mirrors where, I repeat where one of the best style parts of the CL and S. These just don't match the car. All those curves and then a big square mirror. yuk!

It wouldn't have been cool if for the S facelift they gave the sedan the same front end as the CL.

These photos still show that retarded white part on the taillamp. I was hoping they'd do away with that. It's very distracting and takes away from the rear.

Front bumper looks like it came right off the S-class face lift. Of course anything is better than the original standard bumper on the CL.

I feel the same way.

They're to boxy in comparison to the more roundish shape of the CL. :t-banghea

Yup same on the S class... I actually don't really like this mirror design on any car really. They look cheap in a way. They don't look substantial enough. I don't know exactly what it is.

They first appeared on those C-Class BlueEfficiency models and my guess is that they're somehow more aerodynamic than the rounder mirrors on the current CL and S-Class.

Maybe when I see them in real life I will change my mind. I was afraid those mirrors were going to look bad on the new W212 E-Class but when I examined them in detail at the opening last Saturday I didn't get a negative impression: they suited the car.

I hope that's the case here when I see the facelifted S-Class and CL in real life.

After seeing the facelifted S-class, I have such high hopes for this car. I am really interested in seeing how those backlights will look.

MBUSA has announced some of the changes for the 2010:

New on the 2010 CL:
New Direct-steer system
Improved selection of Sport mode for transmission and suspension
New mirrors with arrow-shaped LED indicators
New paint: Palladium Silver
New multi-color ambient lighting
New Night View Assist PLUS with pedestrian detection
New Active Body Control (ABC) with crosswind stabilization
Advanced Tire Pressure Monitoring system
Rear view camera (P2 Package)
Standard Bluetooth - no adaptor required
Sport Package PLUS one
-- Sport bodystyling (front and rear bumpers, side skirts)
-- 20" AMG 5-spoke wheels with all-season tires

Of course no pics yet or whether or not the CL will be re-named the S-Class Coupe.

Maybe they will leave it as the CL since they didn't show it at the same time as the sedan.

By all accounts it will be called the s coupe, and it makes sense considering the E coupe is making the same transition.

I wonder if the CL Cabrio (or perhaps now it will be named S-Class Cabrio) that was mentioned by our MB insider(s) is coming next year after all...
I sure hope so. :eusa_pray CL Cabrio with retractable carbon-fiber roof would be awesome! :D

That would be nice, but wouldn't that be messing with the SL territory?

Hardly. The two cars would be very different overall. The other one is a sporty roadster with 2 seats while the other one would be luxurious flagship cabrio with 4 seats.
