S-Class CL-Class Facelift (Spy Photos & info)

The Mercedes-Benz S-Class, formerly known as Sonderklasse, is a series of full-sized luxury sedans and coupés produced by Mercedes-Benz. The S-Class is the designation for top-of-the-line Mercedes-Benz models and was officially introduced in 1972 with the W116, and has remained in use ever since. The S-Class is the flagship vehicle for Mercedes-Benz, being positioned above the other Mercedes-Benz models.

Hardly. The two cars would be very different overall. The other one is a sporty roadster with 2 seats while the other one would be luxurious flagship cabrio with 4 seats.

But why would mercedes new two convertibles in the same price range? I understand your point that their two different vehicles, but I really don't see a major market for such a car.

There would be more of a market for ...

Well, I did think about how the Ocean Drive will affect the CL Cabrio plans. That's one of the reasons I wondered if it's still coming.

Anyway, CL is already more expensive than SL so surely a CL Cabrio would hold even bigger premium over the SL.

I'm guessing if they do a cabrio, it will probably be with the next generation. By then I guess it will be called the S-Coupe.

I see what you mean. There is a slight change. Very minor, but it's there. I am really interested in how their going to change up the rear lights (The CL's only weak point).

And the grill seems wider/taller too.

Yea the grill is taller with more of a point. I agree I hope they change the rear lights because that is the weak link of the car.

It does seem like MB is going towards the edgier design on their new cars, but in my opinion, the CL's design is no where near edgy. The E class coupe on the other hand is more abstract looking, a more aggressive look with edgy headlights. The CL would definitely look much more stylish and classy with curvy headlights.

Well...it's the best looking "whale" I've ever seen.

I argee with you on that, but the LEDs will ruin the CLs already striking appearance, by making it too dramatic. The new LED headlights will do the C216 good.

Imagine the Pre-Facelift headlights with LEDS:

It just wouldn't go right together.

IMO, the CL is the most beautiful coupe ever. So, I am anxiously looking forward to what MB will do for the facelift. The only problem it has is the tailights it currently has.

I like the old lights better :eusa_doh:

Hard to make out arn`t thay.... Maby it`s just camo.
If thay change the headlights like that I don`t think I`ll have a problem with it. I like the rest of the changes to the front though. That was needed for the CL imo. The lower spolier on the current model is too American looking imo.

The S is out already, time to show the damn thing now.

M

LMAO....so true! Maybe their trying to hold out for frankfurt.

BTW....Are we only getting the SLS at Frankfurt or does MB have a few suprises?

I know Merc1 has all the MB connections.

Well...let me see...lol...

SLS is a definite, E-Class Wagon and I believe the E-Class Convertible. I would have to see yes to the CL facelift too since the car is scheduled to go on sale at the end of this year as a 2010 model, it has to debut at Frankfurt. We should see some type of concept too and some new engines.

I wonder if they'll show a CLS concept. I guess the SLK should show up at Geneva.

Considering how long their waiting for the CL, maybe it will see a name change (S-coupe). I hope not, but it really seems like it's taking a while.

Unlike with the E-Coupe there is no need to change the name to S-Coupe since it's pretty much common knowledge that the CL is a two door S-Class, but a different name is justified because the CL carries a complete different exterior design from the S-Class.
