6 Series The BMW Concept 6 Series Coupé

The BMW 6 Series is a range of grand tourers produced by BMW since 1976. It is the successor to the E9 Coupé. The first generation BMW E24 6 Series was available solely as a two-door coupé and produced from 1976 to 1989, when it was supplanted by the larger BMW 8 Series (E31). When the 6 Series nameplate was revived in 2004 for the second generation, the BMW E63/E64 6 Series, the coupé was joined by a convertible body style. The third generation F06/F12/F13 6 Series debuted in 2011 as a coupé and convertible, and a sedan variant known as the "Gran Coupé" in 2012. When the F06/F12/F13 6 Series ended production, the "Gran Coupé"/coupé/convertible models shifted into the more upmarket BMW 8 Series (G15) nameplate. The fourth generation 6 Series, the G32 6 Series, debuted in mid-2017 and is offered only as a fastback body style to complement the BMW 5 Series (G30) sedan/wagon.
^ The interior is even more Concept CS like. Absolutely stunning I have to add.

Is the full LED headlights trend to continue with other BMWs coming in future? the next 3er?

I think it's most likely that the next BMW with full LED headlights will be the 7er LCI. Next gen 3er might get them as an option, definitely not standard though....

Pop up screen?.

I actually don't think so???
I have not seen any pics of the screen in 'down' position, and I wouldn't even know how/in what way it would tilt...

The first images with bridges in the background are so crap that it makes you believe everything has been added there by computer manipulation and i completely agree with sky all the concept parts, except the mirrors, make the car look less attractive than the prod version, and i absolutely hate the colour choices for the interior. This concept looks good but that's not enough cause the prod car looks epic.

^ Actually, so far I think I am the only one who likes the concept parts better than the production parts. I love the rims, mirrors and exhaust. Looks highly exquisite.

Those might be OK, but the kidneys and front bumper?, much better standard trim. And the bi-colour interior isn´t nice neither. Just look at the CLS Concept interior, much worse than the production one (I mention CLS because the colour combination was similar to this one).

BTW klier, when I first saw the interior I inmediatly searched pics of the CS one, is heavily based, I agree.

I like the mirrors and exhaust, but them rims are just too busy. They're taking the elegance of the car away, IMO. The car has harmonious lines and then my eyes fall onto the rims and I'm like...

^^ Yeah, I definitely agree with the rims being fairly busy on this elegant design. But they would look totally awesome on the M6 or M pack I think...

I love the bi-color interior, just as I did on the CLS Shooting Brake. But I can't quite put a finger on the difference between the production grille and concept grille :eusa_doh:
And we haven't really seen the front bumper of the production car in full detail, so I can't really comment on that yet...they look fairly the same tome to be honest, the production version will feature LED fogs as well I think..

Yeah, it funny. BMW did a great job in making us believe the interior would be like a copy of the X5/5er/7er. In particular with that piece of wood below the air vents; most here thought that the wood piece was going to stretch across the whole front, like the other Bimmers...
But I always knew that the 6er would get it's own, unique interior. ;) It's history repeating.

Edit;
this pic here fooled a lot of us, and spawned a whole discussion about every BMW interior being a carbon copy of the other. Well, that's not the case clearly. BMW is breaking with that trend rapidly. First with the X3, and now with the 6er. The two most recent Bimmers.
I have no doubt that the new 1er will have it's own unique unmistakable interior as well...

Never judge a book by it's cover.... ;)

The mesh/grille in the lower bumper appears to be slightly different. The concept's front bumper is more prominent and more sculpted, the production car will be a bit more simple in that regard.

Best regards,

I dont understand BMW's current release strategy. Why bother with all these concepts and visions when they're basically the production versions with fancier details. By the time the production car comes around we're bored. Especially given that the cars are conservatively beautiful, in a time where we've come accustomed to being wowed and challenged.

^yeah man..thats huge news to me as-well..

So they have like 10 models based on 2 or maybe 3 platforms..
3,5 and 1 platform..

No wonder they make so much cash:)

LOL.

This is true.

For better or worse, M-B are starting to follow suit.

Side looks great. Rear looks ok. The front is as expected, but for some reason does match the rest of the car IMO.

I was thinking the exact same thing about the front. It seems like it's from a different car? Just can't get it to make sense with the side. It's SO raked, and seemingly shapely, that it makes the side look a bit upright in comparison, on the 3/4 pics.

The screen IMO just doesn't look right, although it is nice and big. And BMW is making a big functionality mistake by not putting a hood around it. That thing will be impossible to see in direct sunlight I'd assume?

Some of these pics are blowing me away, some are leaving me a bit cold. Now I really can't wait to see how the real thing turns up.

The front is my main problem right now. The 3/4 pic has it raked almost like a Maserati GT, yet, aside from how it flows with the side, etc., the head-on look is not that hot to me yet, I can see it looking "dated" fast, and it's a bit too "pointy", for lack of a better word. Also, the overhang is surprisingly a little ungainly.

I always hate concepts though, as the smoke and mirrors do nothing for me. I'm just a "realist" I guess. I have no doubts the Production version will look MUCH better and more exciting to me.

LOL.

I agree, it looks like the CS concept with a new front end. It isn't bad, it just takes time to get used to it.

...And great thing that B&O is now in BMW:s too :eusa_pray

I have to disagree there. I drove couple of A5s and A4s with the B&O sound system last time I was looking for a new car. The B&O sound system in the Audis was a big dissapointment to me, mainly due to the metallic and shallow sound of it. The BMW Individual Audio system in my current car beats the B&O sound system hands down, in my opinion.

Well, maybe they improve the B&O sound system before they install it in a BMW...
