4 Series BMW 4-Series Coupe Concept

The BMW 4 Series is a range of compact executive cars manufactured by BMW since 2013. The 4 Series was created when BMW spun off the 2-door models (coupé and convertible) of the 3 Series into a separate series.
Interesting.

They are using 4er Coupe Concept in Berlin ... as a special shuttle for celebrities attending Berlinale Movie Festival ... for the red carpet arrival. :)

A good way of promoting the car before it was even seen in Europe. It will be disappointing if the production version will look very toned down. I hope full LED and full leather will make it to production. And lowering too BTW.

That should answer somebody's question to why the 4er concept is not at the Chicago auto show.

The 4er concept and Active Tourer concepts are coming to Geneva to let a wider and in the case of the 4er a European audience to see the car for the first time. The production reveal is not long after Geneva.

The 2er enters production in the 4th quarter of 2013. A concept is expected as like The 4er BMW has to introduce the car and the name to an audience, whilst auto shows are invaluable BMW do take advantage of further automobile and cultural events to introduce new models and design innovations.

If I can only get this concept in my garage... I feel like it's going to be the one and only car I'll ever need
Now where's the M4 Concept to make me take my words back?

Clever move by BMW PR to present this car at the Berlinale. It is an event that enjoys quite extensive media coverage.

As a sidenote: The 4 Coupe Concept is in my opinion the most visually enticing BMW. Simply everything appears to be exquisitely executed. I can only hope that the production model does not stray significantly from the concept. Save the doorhandles, rear view mirrors and the facia/diffusor areas, all should be left as it is.

Not everything is revealed for Geneva there is BMW and MINI news imminent.

I clicked "informative", but I don't know if I mean it... :)

Are there more shots from this event? I mean, that car is such a feast to the eye...

4 series concept looks stunning on Eni's photos. The best looking BMW IMO. I just hope that production version won't be too much toned down. I still didn't decide if I go to Geneva - if BMW would show production car there, then I would go for sure. Concept is tempting to see, but this is not a car I will be able to get.

BTW: I had BMW 640d on test and it had LED head lights. Looking outside, they looks much nicer than LED AE + Xenon like for example F10 and E92 LCI has. LED head lights are something new and I want it on next car, so I hope they will be available on 4 series..

It looks like the best BMW is very far ahead yet. I remember when 650i was released, I said it was the best looking BMW. This is what it looks like:

650i Coupé < M6 Coupé < M6 GranCoupé < 435i Coupé < M4 Coupé < M4 GranCoupé (< 235i Coupé < M2 Coupé ?)

The production 4er is not coming to Geneva only the concept car will be there. The production car launch will not be long after Geneva intended for Shanghai.

The profile of the 4er puts the 6er Gran Coupe to shame- the thought of a 4er Gran Coupe is ever so enticing.

Production version ... Forget all the Concept kitsch (door handles, side mirrors, fancy wheels, overdone chrome detailing on kidney grille, rear bumper with overdone rear diffuser & exhaust, front bumper with overdone air intake detailing, overdecorated air breather ... Forget futuristic light graphics, forget the overdone interior leather details etc.

Sure Individual will offer some great leather choices & colors, some fancy wheels etc, special body colors etc later on ...

Full-LED headlights will be an optional feature ... introduced later, not initially @ launch ... I guess with the GranCoupe or M4 Coupe. Don't expect a miracle though! Look @ 6er, 5er LCI, new X5 for a clue.

Rear lights will have the 3er-like graphics (the twin LED L-strips), so will the Halogen & the Xenon headlights.

The interior itself is more or less 3er carbon copy with some extra trim, and some different trim location (eg. on side panels etc).

The light graphics on 4er Coupe Concept show future design solutions (LED projectors with angular LED Coronas feat. extension bar towards the grille; rear lights with 3D single loop LED "Lava Lamp") on upcoming BMWs, not necessarily on 4er first! ;)

Well, so ATM no need to think about 4 Series. Wait for facelift. In the meantime drive the new IS and then get M4.

BMW wants the customers to by a new BMW every year. That is even worse than with Apple.

What about the rust issue?

What rust? What issue? :D

They started to use a different cleaning agent in late November 2012 ... so probably no rust in the cars built in late November 2012 and later.

For the existing affected cars "a permanent solution" will be introduced in the next weeks ... I wonder what that will be. I guess a repair kit & service instructions for dealers how to deal with the corrosion (removing the rust, cleaning the surface, applying an anti-corrosion agent).
