S-Class W222 [Spyshots] Mercedes-Benz 2014 W222 S-Class (Spy pics & info)

The Mercedes-Benz W222 is the sixth generation of the Mercedes Benz S-Class produced from 2013 to 2020, serving as the successor to the W221 S-Class and predecessor to the W223 S-Class. The W222 has a similar design theme to the C-Class (W205) and E-Class (W213).

No longer interested in this thread and endless spy pics of taped up cars. I'm done lol.....I'll wait until it is official.

Agreed. In a thread with numerous photos of a barely disguised S-Class, not to mention the many (99% accurate) renders, there really is no point in adding photos of mules where you can just about make out a rear light. Waste of time.

Well point made I suppose by Betty and Merc1, as I checked status of the new S class given a new post only to see the most recent enlightening comment!

Check this out! Does anyone think this is the real deal? I don't but it looks so serious.. But rather like a C-Class

That could be very close based on what we have seen. The lines on the side look a little exaggerated, but probably close.

That render has already appeared few times... Obviously, side mirrors and headlights wont look anything like that. Front bumpers are also wrong, and so is the grille.

^ That's what The Beardy says. Which is contrary to gossips about next CL being even better, even more direct competitor, to Bentley Conti GT. That said, DB9, Conti GT and CL are indeed in the same segment, right?

I still think CL should remain as it is, big 'personal coupe', but the CLS desperately needs two-door version, to be more direct competitor to 6 Series-family; E class Coupe needs to be placed a bit more upmarket, to better compete with the upcoming 4 Series; and MB needs something to battle the upcoming 2 Series (2 door CLA maybe?). And that leaves C Class coupe kinda pointless? Which, next to the E Class coupe, it is.

The new S class is sure to be interesting.
Looking for images such as the Mercedes S-Class in the newspaper, but some higher quality .... Has anyone like that?

Why not...they can keep CL as a name and make it to be more sport/luxury coupe, and on the other side S-Coupe to be real luxury coupe like the CL is at this moment.

Mercedes has messed up with their naming. It could be alot more simple:

2 Series Coupé = A Class Coupé
4 Series Coupé = C Class Coupé (aka CLK)
6 Series Coupé = E Class Coupé
8 Series Coupé = S Class Coupé (aka CL)

^ I can agree on that.
But there already is A Class coupe, albeit, a four-door one. E Class Coupe is, in fact, CLK's successor. Which makes its name a bit weird, since it's supposed to compete with 4 Series, not 6 Series. What's more, it is based on the same platform as C Class, not E class.

Regarding the CL... The Beardy isn't always correct, and I would take with a huge reserve what he says about that sneak-peak.

Now, back to the S Class, there is something that is bothering me: what is the platform on which the S class will be based? Will it have its own platform (like it has now), or will it transition to modular platform (just like Audi and BMW are doing with their flagships)(Which will later be used in bunch of other Benzes)
