S-Class (W222) [Spyshots] Mercedes-Benz 2014 W222 S-Class (Spy pics & info)

The Mercedes-Benz W222 is the sixth generation of the Mercedes Benz S-Class produced from 2013 to 2020, serving as the successor to the W221 S-Class and predecessor to the W223 S-Class. The W222 has a similar design theme to the C-Class (W205) and E-Class (W213).

I agree with this line of thought. If Mercedes is serious about making something of Maybach then yes this would be the brand to get a big 4-door coupe. Maybach needs a regular 2-door, pillarless coupe too, but it can't look like an enlarged CL. A 4-door convertible would be the hot too and a killer (regular) sedan. Stunning inside and out, and searing performance and dripping with high-tech goodies that you can't get in an S-Class.

If Mercedes is serious about Maybach then they're going to have to show up the S-Class, something risky but necessary. It won't hurt sales because not nearly everyone with a S550 can just switch to a 400K Maybach.

The problem with the current Maybach is that it is too similar to the previous S Classes and it never shrugged off its image as a glorified S Class. The Rolls Royce Phantom had no such problem as it was bespoke and looked totally different to the BMW 7 series.

The next Maybach must look imposing and totally different to the S Class. From it's height, proportions, and profile. It's not like Mercedes has to pluck styling these elements out of thin air, Mercedes and Maybch have long history and can draw from their past heritage.

Personally, I think the next Maybach will be a success if it:
1) looks and feels substantially different (and imposing) to the S Class inside and out
2) retains all the creature comforts of the current Maybach
3) weigh less than a comparable RR or Bentley
4) hybrid for near-silent city driving

Classy, but a bit too classic.

I am not sure the car will any way near this CGI, but Autobild has got it right with its future MB drawings almost always.

To me this is the same case as with the A8, they´ve just caught the car undisguised, and this is the proove. It´s too real and well done to be just a CGI.

The front could be OK, it´s not ground braking, but look nice and fresh, but the CLS creases on the profile of an S-Class are completly out of place, and make the car less luxurious than what it should. The rear is hideous and bland.

I hope it´s not the real deal.

Calm down....It's definitely not the real S.... the first pic is a chop of the CLS. There's a press pic that looks exactly like it.

I think the car might get the "new style" MB front grille? After the latest stream of models I have a feeling it's going to happen.

You mean the star-grille (which isn't new at all btw, been around as long as the Luxo grille almost)?

Noooooo way will M-B give the S the star grille. The S will always have the status-Luxo grille, it would be a joke without it, hehe.

I hope that drawing isn't the real deal! It almost makes sense if you really look at it though. Pleaaase, no CLS fussy "upward" lines on the side, very out of place and demeaning of an S-Classes character.

I have a lot of faith in Autobilds CGI, especially the Merc ones. The track secord for accuracy is close to 95% and regardless of how different this might look to what we have pictured in our heads, this could very well be it.

^There is a diff between Autobild and huck;)
And this is not huck..he has gone underground or something..

I´m starting to have doubts about it, as the front seems to be just the CL one, with a bit different headlights and conventional grille. The spy pics don´t suggest such a front end.

Well the spy pics are of an early mule. This looks more like a C class to me in the front. I would be disapointed if it looked like this.

I doubt they would catch it undisquised with studio lighting to boot. I bet someone can find the original pic this was chopped from. This looks way to much like someone took a CLS and shopped it.

It does appear the next S will have these quirky offset lines running along the profile. Very unfortunate if you ask me.

Na, thats not going to happen. I already pointed out in the new SLK thread that MB will only use that grill on sports cars and AMG version coupes.

The S-Class is the king of the line. The star is more or less the crown that has to stand out on the S-Class.

^ If we haven't seen it on the E-class by now it definitely will not happen on the S-class. So we might as well shoot that rumor down now...

I actually find the chop interesting. Both from the front and the back. Only thing which disturbs me is the low, upward line on the side. Apart from that, i think it's rather nice :)

That's very true chief but somehow I feel like the ideas for this chop haven't been pulled out of thin air and I think that who ever did it has seen something we other haven't. Yet the head lights are giving me a luke warm feeling at the temperature of an inflated C-Class.The headlights don't make a strong statement now and won't in 2012.
