Hot! Mercedes-Benz, What's Next?

Or even a new one based on the I6. I know a lot to ask.

I guess on the longterm this sounds possible, TBH Mercedes Benz underestimated the importance of the V12 engine.

The V12 is only laggy as long as it’s cold, with hot oil it starts to pull from low down.

Edit: The S650 was way too expensive compared to the S65 it was based on, in germany it was 102000€ more than the S65. (357k instead of 255k).

One of THE great things about the M279 is that it's a very reliable motor. And reasonably efficient considering it's insane power and torque.
I think the most likely way it gets updated is getting compatibility with the 48V mild hybrid system. And maybe as was previously stared, some new twin scroll turbos Or e-turbos.

There's no doubt in my mind, that with a few tweaks and a higher redline, that motor is capable of producing more power than a small nuclear reactor.

Looking at it with more time, seriously, isn’t there anyone at MB who has given a look to the next 3er spy pics and said “look guys, let’s get back to the drawing board. Our competitors have a seriously good looking car in the making and we have another fugly egg instead”.

I guess the answer is Gordon stepped in and just changed the front grille.

I pretty much work exclusively for the super rich, ie millionaires and billionaires in london.

Royalty, celebs, old money families people have conspiracy theories about and new money tech families, to oligarchs and chinese newly rich.

I get to see every room. £120 million pound houses, £70 million pound apartments, a select few may have cinema rooms, most dont, and they dont have TV’s in every room. And where they do have TV’s id say 65” is probably the biggest.

Its a very noticeable trend, as before I worked for the super rich, I started my career going into the poorer peoples homes, and usually the poorer the person, ie state handouts, the bigger the TV.

Its comical.

No rich people spend very little time infront of the TV

Funny, you came over as being the super rich. Turns out you're just a real estate agent pretending to know how these people live.

Oh yes , the old dog trick

Dude , you have the most bollocks story around here , starting from "going to the airport in my AMG GTR" to "hey look , rich dudes don't watch tv. trust me ,bro"

First : TVs have got more accessible than ever . You can get a >65inch tv for a few hundred euros.

A big TV is no longer a flex . Not even for poor people .

Second : All ultra luxury houses have a interior designer. And there is absolutely no designer out there that will say "ok , let's put this 100inch TV that will fill almost all the wall" , because it will ruin the heck out of that design.

Third : Rich people don't stay on GCF...haha

It's probably far too late to just rip up all their production tooling and supply chain. Changing the front is basically just a facelift and probably much more cost and time-efficient. Redoing the whole thing from scratch would require jumping through all the regulatory, safety etc. hoops all over again and would leave them without a car in that segment for another 3-5 years.

Better to tweak it, have it out there making some money and I guess work on the next generation. Probably skip the facelift for it and go straight to a full redesign.

That engine has so much potential if it gets the updates from new CLA 1.5 engine such as the 48V mild hybrid with low speed EV mode/sailing mode etc. and changes to the turbos (E-Turbo etc.) to add low rev torque and response. It could achieve 800PS and 1100nm no problem as the Utopia is achieving 877PS already.

Sad thing in any case. This looks like an EQE. Probably even worse.

....and adding another 1-2 billion in R&D. Something the shareholders sure as hell aren't going to like. At all.

Gorden is the one to blame here, yet they refuse to fire him. I hold him personally responsible for everything wrong (together with the ones in the board of directors who keep letting him do his thing). His time is up. He's out of ideas.

It could do a lot more. The M275 (which is nearly identical mechanically) natively produced 1300Nm (1000lbft) out of the gate and it had to be limited to stop from tearing the drivetrain apart.
Nowadays the technology exists to make use of that power and torque.

The 223 is so far the only application of this engine with 4matic, it’s also the reason why I went with the M177 instead of the M279 in my A217.

With this torque 4matic is a must.

They did limit the torque to a "mere" 900Nm for AWD. But as I said. Mercedes really should update the 9G tronic and AMG 9G MCT to handle far more than 1000Nm.

Would you believe that Gorden has been doing Sensual Purity design since 2009, so his designs has spanned almost 2 generations of Mercedes models already. Time for a change and they should go back to Bruno Sacco way of thinking
"A Mercedes-Benz must always look like a Mercedes-Benz." Turn one eye to the past with the other eye looking forward to the future.

Two eyes looking two ways paints an amusing image in the mind :ROFLMAO:.

I would agree though. I don't think the curvaceous flowing body styling is bad, but generally I think the line flow and design needs a shot in the arm.
