A1/S1 [Spyshots] Audi S1 - Spy pics & info

The Audi A1 is a luxury supermini car launched by Audi at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show. Sales of the initial three-door A1 model started in Germany in August 2010, with the United Kingdom following in November 2010.
So RS1 better than A1 quattro?

Of course it is, it's much powerful than the A1 Quattro. Rumored is, it's going to based a A1 Clubsport Quattro, so it has 340-500 ps. But Audi don't know, to they build a production RS1 or a limited edition the A1 Clubsport Quattro.

Personally I think it would be a mistake to put the 2.5L unit in the A1, it would end up so nose heavy the thing would be awful to drive hard. A lightweight engine is its key to success.

I was thinking of the S1 not the RS1, usually one comes before the other.
Normally yes, but in this case is very sensitive, and Audi is thinking about skipping the S1 name... Because of...:

(boy I get goose bumps when I see this car)

Hmm, well, I don't know is it the nose so heavy. If it's(RS1) going to based on the A1 Clubsport Quattro, or it is just limited edition A1 Clubsport. Here is pic where the engine is located, no, its not behind the front axle, what is a bad thing.

But it's weight anyway just 1390 kg, so we can only speculation how awful it is to drive hard. And it's fast one ;)
And listen to this sound.

And my opinion is, it would be a best thing if the RS1 get +300 hp 2.0 TFSI-engine, same as the S3 have.

@Giannis, just out of curiosity, how is one able to discern between a car that is fitted with a haldex unit and one that isn't (by looking at the under carriage, that is)?

I just recognized the shape of the rear diff. The 5th generation is much more compact than the earlier model and the part which houses the hydraulic pump (if I am not mistaken) is distinctively cross-shaped. See this image for comparison:

It's a diagram of a Golf 7 4-Motion, with the same 5th gen Haldex system.

2014 Audi S1 three-door spied undergoing testing

Out early next year

Today we bring an additional batch of spy photos with the 2014 Audi S1 three-door which is scheduled to come out early next year.
The prototype seen here is wearing a lot of camo and most likely it's the S1 version judging by the quad exhaust setup and big alloy wheels. Our spies already snapped the five-door S1 Sportback and now we have new photos of the three-door version which according to our sources has a quattro permanent all-wheel drive setup and more than 200 bhp (149 kW).
As far as design is concerned, the 2014 A1/S1 will borrow the A3/S3's styling cues so expect similar bumpers, front grille, linear headlights and new graphics for the taillights with the linear brake lights sitting on top.
We assume an unveiling will occur March next year at the Geneva Motor Show.

As much as I love the little A1, I am totally underwhelmed of the S1. I would rather be interested in something that is better then A1 Quattro; an RS1. Now that would be wow.

2014 Audi S1 spied virtually undisguised

Could have approximately 220 HP (161 kW)
The 2014 Audi S1 has been spied virtually undisguised.

Caught undergoing testing at night, the S1 features an aggressive front bumper and a stylish rear diffuser which is flanked by a four-tailpipe sports exhaust system. Since the S1 will likely be introduced alongside the facelifted A1, the model has also been equipped with a new head- and taillights.

Audi has been relatively quiet about specifications but previous reports have indicated the S1 could have a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that develops approximately 220 HP (161 kW). It will presumably be offered with automatic and manual transmissions that are connected to a quattro all-wheel drive system.

The 2014 Audi A1 and S1 could be introduced at the Geneva Motor Show, so expect to learn more in the coming months.

Audi

Audi AG is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury vehicles headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. A subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, the company’s origins date back to the early 20th century and the initial enterprises (Horch and the Audiwerke) founded by engineer August Horch (1868–1951). Two other manufacturers (DKW and Wanderer) also contributed to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932. The modern Audi era began in the 1960s, when Volkswagen acquired Auto Union from Daimler-Benz, and merged it with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969.
