the lights look great when illuminated... and the interior is getting boring imo.

Can I also add that "allegedly", the boot/trunk layout is being sorted so that the available space is more usable. As an early adopter of the D4, I have had to live with putting a second suitcase when we go on holiday in between the kids on the back seat. It's incredibly frustrating and has led to a lot of sales losses for Audi in the chauffeur market.

The front end is going to be really hot, I'm thinking that the more aggressive one is on the S8. Can't wait to see it.

That S8 front end seems to be really spot on.

Can´t stand you, Audi. Something so good, some other so bad.

The problem with the A8 is the same one that the Panamera has. And that is one that can't be fixed with a facelift. The front and the rear are quite fine You can mak them better (which seems to be exactly what they did here) but you can't make the car appear lighter, because that would require changing the whole body and reworking the proportions..
The A8 is a badly styled car, because it doesn't show it's physical lightness. The exterior styling adds so much visual weight, that it appears heavier than both 7er and S, while in reality, it's the other way around.

Oh and this car is shaping up to be blockier than ever... :(

Highly effective: new turn signal light in the Audi A8

  • Indicator LEDs light up sequentially in the turning direction
  • Advanced turn signal light is a component of the Audi Matrix LED headlight
In the new Audi A8, the turn signal light consists of lighting elements that illuminate in a defined sequence; this makes it easier for others to perceive the driver’s turning intentions, even under difficult conditions.
In the new Audi A8, the turn signal lights will now indicate the turning direction in an innovative way, which has the potential to significantly enhance traffic safety. That is because the lights provide a visual signal that can be clearly and quickly perceived, even at long distances and in poor visibility.
Each of the enhanced headlights contains 18 light-emitting diodes arranged in a strip that is subdivided into seven blocks. Each tail light contains 24 LEDs in eight segments, which are used to dynamically indicate the turning direction. During flashing, the blocks are sequentially activated at 20 millisecond intervals, from the inside outwards in the desired turning direction. After 150 milliseconds, all segments are bright; for another 250 milliseconds they illuminate with full intensity. Afterwards, the turn signals go dark before repeating the lighting sequence.
Considering their capabilities, the Audi Matrix LED headlights can be regarded as a cutting-edge innovation. In each headlight, 25 light-emitting diodes generate a highly variable high-beam light. When the on-board camera detects other vehicles ahead, the Audi Matrix LED headlights mask the relevant sections of the high-beam by dimming or shutting off individual diodes. Very bright illumination is preserved in the remaining zones.
The Audi Matrix LED headlights also feature navigation-based cornering lights and, in cooperation with the night vision assistant, a marker light that warns the driver of pedestrians in the dark and which also alerts the pedestrians.
Audi will be presenting the upgraded A8 in September at the IAA International Motor Show in Frankfurt.

I'd wait to see how they look on the entire/finished car. I have a feeling this facelift is going to be really something. Audi doesn't want to be run over by the S-Class so they're going to pull out all the stops for this facelift IMO. Still one of my favorite cars in this class, the S8.

Isn't Audi a bit too obsessed with LED tech? It looks like they have changed the slogan from Vorsprung durch Technik to Vorsprung durch LED. C'mon LED lights aren't the most important part of the car. What about some other new technical innovations? It looks like BMW & MB are more active & successful lately in many tech areas, while Audi are toying with LEDs. Geez!

Sure they are. But what about some MORE important automotive tech? Audi lags behind ... Any other significant innovation lately? Hardly. On the other side BMW & MB ... plenty.

That's why my remark about Audi's obsession with LED lights ... Sure they can advance that tech but I would rather see they also make some significant advancements & pioneering work in some other areas as well.

Audi

Audi AG is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury vehicles headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. A subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, the company’s origins date back to the early 20th century and the initial enterprises (Horch and the Audiwerke) founded by engineer August Horch (1868–1951). Two other manufacturers (DKW and Wanderer) also contributed to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932. The modern Audi era began in the 1960s, when Volkswagen acquired Auto Union from Daimler-Benz, and merged it with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969.
