A4/S4/RS4 [Spyshots] Audi A4 (B9) Spy Pics & Info

The Audi A4 is a line of luxury compact executive cars produced by Audi. Production: 1994-2025. Predecessor: Audi 80. Successor: Audi A5 (B10).
Same old design :mad::banghead:

A lot of us Audi drivers/owners are a fairly conservative bunch and if the new A4 B9 looks like the latest rendering from RM Design, than I'm a happy camper and I would order one today if I could. Just what I hope it eventually looks like. :)

I pretty much agree with all of you, the next A4 wont be a radical change from the current version, I think it will be like the Audi TT, a modernization of the front and back lights to make it fit in with the F/L A6 and also A3 saloon and some more defined lines running the side of the car from front to back. I am not sure when Audi will go 3D with their grill design, maybe a new model like A9 will introduce this?

At last some car is shown with production body and as predicted it looks like an evolution of current car. Abit like a shrunken A6!

It looks like a much bigger car than the current one, almost A6 in size.

It is unlikely that the external dimensions of the A4 will grow significantly. I suspect overall length remaining somewhere between 4710-4740mm and width between 1825-1850mm. The wheelbase will increase somewhat as the B9 A4 will be the first iteration of VAGs' highly flexible MLBevo matrix.

In addition, the B9 A4 may be the last Audi 3-Box sedan that sports a "more conservative" roofline. Marc Lichte, in recent interviews, has alluded to a "new roofline graphic" for future Audi sedans. Shallower side glass, increased C-pillar rake flowing into a more tapered rear end.

So the new A4 will miss out on the new design language? Not good when the car haven't been released yet.

It has the makings for being an attractive vehicle but I feel that the design - by the time it hits - will have a limited shelf life.

That does appear to be the case. As we know, the cars' presentation has been delayed at least once due to "necessary design modifications". I suspect that the reshuffling in Audis' management (Dr. Dürrheimer out/D. Hackenberg in as R&D director, Egger out/Lichte in as design director) initiated an "unsettled" transitionary phase in which cars' such as the B9 A4 and upcoming A5 have fallen victim. They are, in essence, Dürrheimer/Egger cars. Bonafide Hackenberg/Lichte cars start with the introduction of the D5 A8.

Audi says next-gen RS4 will lose the V8 engine

Likely be replaced by a turbo V6
Quattro GmbH managing director Heinz Hollerweger has announced the next generation Audi RS4 will drop the V8 engine.

Back in February we heard a rumor about Audi's plans to ditch the naturally aspirated eight-cylinder 4.2-liter from the next RS4 and now this is official as Hollerweger told Australian journalists the V8 will be dropped, hinting that it could be replaced with a turbocharged V6. Regardless of what it will be, the engine must allow the model "to continue this success story" and perhaps it will do so by using the electric turbocharger technology showcased earlier this year in theRS5 TDI concept and set to premiere in the SQ7.

V8 engines won't be axed entirely as Hollerweger hinted the next generation RS6 could still get one, while the upcoming R8 will still be offered with a V10. Interestingly, he went on to say that the next RS4 and RS6 models could be offered as sedans in comparison to the current Avant-only generation.

The regular Audi A4 B9 was spied this week wearing a production body and will be introduced sometime in 2015 which means the RS4 won't see the light of day before 2016, at the earliest.

Call me a boring old fart. but I'm going to love the new B9 saloon. :geek:
An oversize A3 Saloon or an undersize A6 is fine by me any day. Just love conservative predictable dull German saloons.
I was hoping they wouldn't tinker too much with it to be honest because I love the looks of the current A4!

As soon as I saw the post (before I saw your reply), I thought it was Deckhook. Language and style stands out a mile. The same goes for Kilcrohane and Artist.

Audi

Audi AG is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury vehicles headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. A subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, the company’s origins date back to the early 20th century and the initial enterprises (Horch and the Audiwerke) founded by engineer August Horch (1868–1951). Two other manufacturers (DKW and Wanderer) also contributed to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932. The modern Audi era began in the 1960s, when Volkswagen acquired Auto Union from Daimler-Benz, and merged it with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969.
