I still see the upcoming M335i to be the real competition with S4. 335i is just another 3-series with a different engine. There are much more differences between a S4 and standard A4, to name two things, a proper sport diff and driving dynamics.

Im fully aware of the battles between 335i and S4 but it doesnt change the fact that the upcoming M335i is there to battle with S4.

But the thing is the sport diff is an option and not standard, other than that the differences really center around the engine which is much the same as the 335i.

Took you two months to find an answer. My opinion is the same. S4 real competition is the upcoming M 335i.

LOL, not quite I just forgot about this tread but you can view it both ways because regardless of how you feel the S4 has always competed against the normal 335i and it's only now that BMW are answering that car's failure to match it's level of overall performance by producing the M335i. So it may well rule over the S4 when it arrives but this will probably only happen until the cycle begins again with the B9 S4....and so on and so on.

I seriously doubt M-performance was created because of S4 If bmw wanted to outperform S4 they could have done it from the beginning, just give the car 340hp, different suspension and forget about runflats. M-performance division is the new future for BMW products. Soon Mercedes will jump on the train as well.

Yes I do but the decision wasn't based on carcomparions when 335i lost to S4. BMW M Performance wasn't created and invented in one day.

Don't come here and tell me that the 335 is a better/quicker car then the S4. The 335 is almost 3 seconds slower, sometimes more, to 200km/h, it handles worse, and it's slower on track.

It's like I would try to say that the RS5 is better then M3, which it isnt.

Better is question about personal opinions. Quicker than 335i is a fact though.
As said so many times M-performance is created to compete with S-division. Mercedes are also there soon, they already made sneak start with their 'Engineered by AMG'.
