I have a feeling that, outside of light graphics, this new CLA is going to look a lot like the current gen on the outside.

This is like the more relevant thread for this post of mine:

Whether the next CLA is true entry luxury offerings will be determined by the mix of style, quality, luxury and technology. I fear the interior is going to be a beautiful but short on build and quality of finish. I also suspect the overall shape will be a disappointment.

Trying to replicate the prettiness of rear of the current CLA with its diistinct, delicate yet sporty rear lights and graceful glasshouse and tail end is an admirable goal.

We are going to get a bloated version of the current car with super bling logo inspired headlights and tail lights. Whether it is a true Mercedes will be determined by the build and finish of the interior. But I have no doubt they are going to bring it to the party in terms of UI technology and possibly a massive step forward for Mercedes EV technology too.

The CLA is one of those cars that do not seem to be particularly photogenic. Yet tend to look better in real life environments. I see quite a few of them in my region and with the "right" colors and rims, they can look quite attractive. Not gorgeous, but "rather nice".

The perception of proportions can really vary in spyshots. In some, the CLA looks "short and stout" and in others, considerably more svelte.

The front overhang and general FWD proportions are simply dreadful.
And then to think this will be sprinkled with Gordon's kitch exterior design........well....the gipsies will love it; a cheap econobox pretending to be a Benz. Star shapes everywhere! Too many to count is what we want.

I remain puzzled that one could look at this and say the CLA styling doesn't look work on this platform. It looks almost exactly like the current one, FWD proportions and all.

No way. You can tell a major difference in terms of beltline height and how bloated the body is between these spy shots and the new spy shots.

It's still heavily covered up to gauge the details of the grill, headlights and rear with the bulbous boot. I hope that when the covering comes off it looks really good underneath

I world say that the guideline for the external stylistic future is this.....three-pointed star both in front and behind the light clusters, the only thing that doesn't convince me is the interior with this screen that extends up to the passenger

One of the worst renders I’ve ever seen. YUCK!

German "Big Three" premium manufacturers have certainly not been spoiling us with the exterior designs of their electric 4 door sedans/estates. I'll give the MMA CLA at least a slight benefit of a doubt. It may, repeat, MAY, be considerably better when all of the camouflague is shed. After all, the Vision CLA is not bad looking at all. Maybe we will be positively surprised. And following the presentation of cars such as the Audi A6 etron, M-Bs own EQE sedan, VW ID 7 and the BMW G60/61, how much worse can it really get ? Granted, the CLA will probably be some 150mm-200mm shorter in overall length.

logically this is a rendering, I think the rear lights are slightly different with the star set in the headlights r not as seen in the photo with these very thin strips

The concept gives the general idea.
