I think both Q5 and X3 models in this comparison look pretty good and in their most flattering specs
Yes I fully agree the new Q5 does look like a pretty SUV, but I do think it is also spec and colour sensitive. I saw a number of the new X3 in South Africa 2 months ago and I did like the exterior styling and thought it looks better in real life than in pics. It looks fresh and alot different to other BMW designs. As for interior design I seem to be more leaning towards the Q5 side, as I feel the X3 interior is step back quality wise on the previous model and even looks cheaper overall inside than the X1. Lets hope Audi new design language will make a leap change and not be another evolutionary step. They are long due for some fresh ideas and we need to see the 4 rings shining again.IMHO, the new Q5 is a pretty SUV. Easy on the eye while in no way challenging it. Or piquing a curiosity to explore it further. Here, the X3 trumps the Q5. Very modern inside and out while NOT fashionable, monolithic and may well be destined to still look very good some 10 years down the road. The Q5, on the other hand, is little more than a warm-up of the now long standing Audi exterior design paradigm. And that has gotten a bit stale. The upcoming "Fraschella Audis" cannot come soon enough. Hopefully, Mr. Fraschella and his team will not drop the ball. We will see the first evidence of which at the IAA in Munich in about one months time.
