Q5 [Spy Shots] 2024 Audi Q5 spied for the first time!

AlI I see is black (and screens). But I'll take your word for it.

As for the car......front is horrible, side is nice and the rear is generic but ok.
Interior looks f' ing horrible. Looks like it's still in testing phase with laptops attached for data collection.
As a car enthusiast I have lost count of the number of SUVs that Audi have in their lineups. They all look the same. The new Q5 and A5 have a design that's a bit too soft for my linking.

With all the terrible designed cars that Audi (and others) has launched lately, I guess we must give this new Q5 an 👍🏻
But the interior looks identical to Q6 etron and new A6/5, which I dont like

My sentiments exactly. I hate this cluttered set-up. Audi used to pride themselves with their simplified arrangements. This is the opposite.

RIP gloss black fetish. The cabin is almost entirely wrapped in soft touch materials, including the centre console.

A stark contrast against other audi cabins

I prefer the previous gen cabin design it looks less generic than the new version and more luxurious. The center console looks a whole lot better with a cup holder cover and gearshift

Right? I’m not a fan of all the screens but like heavier cars these are the signs of the times…

honorable mention, the interior of the W212 E class and it’s CLS sister car. One of the most cohesive and nice interiors ever made that looked so elegant as the light orange glow bounced off just the right amount of metallic garnish.

Is it not being launched in September?

As you probably already know, German automotive media has been speculating on a Q3 or Q4 2025 official presentation of the PPC A7 sedan and Avant. However, with ever more, lightly camouflagued prototype spyshots appearing, perhaps it will be presented considerably sooner after all.

Can't help but see a Suzuki Grand Vitara:

These new Audi interiors (A5, A6 egg-tron) looks heavily Peugeot inspired with so many layers, textures, screen placing...

All in all, yet another disappointing German design. Only Porsche is the saving grace these days, with a honourable mention to Opel

Audi interior is very bad and I believe that's a main reason which drives people away from buying their cars!!

Not in the USA. Both models had a regular 8sp auto. Now both new models get the DCT. This is why I said here in the USA. It could be different elsewhere.

M
Nope, the Q5 has the 7sp DCT and the SQ5 has the 8sp ZF. I should know.. I have both.

I found the B8.5 to B9 transmission changes very odd in the US.

B8 A/Q - ZF 8
B8 S/SQ - DCT

B9 A/Q - DCT
B9 S/SQ - ZF 8

With the US B10 S/SQ models foregoing the 48V system.. I wonder if they will receive the ZF8 again. Or stick to DCT still?

Exterior looks good but front grill and rear diffuser are too busy also the same light bar from A5, A6 is getting boring. Interior I must see in person but looks average, busy and too much plastic. The steering wheel looks cheap.
I prefer the X3, at least BMW takes bold steps in design.

Gotta say it's a tough pick between these two. Front end goes to the X3 with M Sport package for sure, just a little bolder and sharp looking. Side/rear end I definitely prefer the Q5, with the flatter beltline, but the X3's rear end is still pretty good too.

The Q5 is an evolution of the previous model. It gentle looking and doesn't stand out. Very suburban whilst the X3 remains goofy but a bit edgier.

Side profile: Q5
Rear: X3
Front: X3
Interior: Q5

Audi

Audi AG is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury vehicles headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. A subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, the company’s origins date back to the early 20th century and the initial enterprises (Horch and the Audiwerke) founded by engineer August Horch (1868–1951). Two other manufacturers (DKW and Wanderer) also contributed to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932. The modern Audi era began in the 1960s, when Volkswagen acquired Auto Union from Daimler-Benz, and merged it with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969.
