M8 [Official] The New BMW M8 Coupé & Convertible (F91 & F92)

The BMW M8 is the high-performance version of the BMW 8 Series (G15) marketed under the BMW M sub-brand. Introduced in June 2019, the M8 was initially produced in the 2-door convertible (F91 model code) and 2-door coupe (F92 model code) body styles. A 4-door sedan (F93 model code, marketed as 'Gran Coupe') body style was added to the lineup in October 2019. The M8 is powered by the BMW S63 twin-turbocharged V8 engine shared with the BMW M5 (F90). Official website: BMW M
I very much like BMW interiors in general-and that of "The 8" is especially attractive.

Ooh!
The press fleet is beginning to expand, will need to try out the new 1er and 3er Touring soon.

That red E31 M8 is still spectacular, one of my dream cars when I was a kid. Love the engine with its carbon fiber air intakes. Pure eye candy this engine. If only it went into production it would have been a Ferrari killer, with 550hp back in 1990 it would have been one of the most powerful cars in the world.

Coming back to the new M8, the rear looks much better on this car than the standard 8-series, I think the addition of the 4 round pipes and aggressive bumper add a much more purposeful stance to this vehicle.

That M8 actually spearheaded a lot of engineering and structural changes put forward by Wolfgang Reitzle to make the E31 a more physical contender than it was. Three models 840i,850i and M8 which mirrored with the Cabrio except for the M8.
30 years on and we are finally here.

That original unborn M8 was miles ahead of its competition compared to the new M8... Legendary V12, carbon fiber wheels (!), a massive for the time 550ps output (naturally-aspirated), made it a legitimate Ferrari / Lambo apex killer.

The entire board of directors and the council of that time should be ashamed until today for not having taken that car to production, and now show it proud? they should hide it so as not to show how inept and timid they were ...

That is why people like Ferdinand Piech, John Delorean, Lee Iacocca, Bob Lutz and so many others are so important in the industry because they face investors and everything that is put forward in order to make history.

Two good photos of a fantasy that never was

The recession of the late 1980's,early 1990's killed everything associated with the M8,The Cabrio and the expensive re-engineering for the b-pillar. The only survivors where the M8-lite 850CSi and entry 840i.

The same thing happened with Mercedes with a so called W140 S-class convertible, it was canned cause of the early 1990's recession.

In the old days the night before press day it was everybody grab a mop or steam cleaner.
Not standing around chatting.

New Corporate look for BMW under the new CEO. The architecture looks less like my home now.

Coming way earlier the life cycle if so.

Not necessarily. Because this is the first public testing. This could appear 18 months from now on the market.
M8 officially goes on sale in November having been launched in June.

I would say CS is inevitable, also for the M5. At M events I have attended they openly admit to further M5 development.

In fact the disguised M5's Seem to be less LCI and more Areo Packet changes. Especially when M have always kept LCI's away from their portfolio in order to protect customer resale values.
Another dogma broken?

Maybe, but you have to remember that unlike the M3/4 or M2 which first had the standard cars before the competition package this out the gate had the standard M8 and competition package. So the timeline of the CS might change. All speculation of course.

The problem with the M850 being so good and sporty in its exterior design, makes these not look too special, the 8 are the least noticeable M of the line, Audi did what should be done with the RS6 touring, I think that the M8 could have given a greater touch

I think where the design of the M8/GC falls apart is in the front bumper if they had kept it close to this concept it would have been an absolute winner. The carbon fiber parts they used just looks silly on the production. I do however think it will go down as one of BMWs best designs ever.

BMW M

BMW M GmbH, formerly known as BMW Motorsport GmbH, is a subsidiary of BMW AG that manufactures high-performance luxury cars. BMW M ("M" for "motorsport") was initially created to facilitate BMW's racing program, which was very successful in the 1960s and 1970s. As time passed, BMW M began to supplement BMW's vehicle portfolio with specially modified higher trim models, for which they are now most known by the general public. These M-badged cars traditionally include modified engines, transmissions, suspensions, interior trims, aerodynamics, and exterior modifications to set them apart from their counterparts. All M models are tested and tuned at BMW's private facility at the Nürburgring racing circuit in Germany.
