M8 [Official] The New BMW M8 Coupé & Convertible (F91 & F92)

The BMW M8 is the high-performance version of the BMW 8 Series (G15) marketed under the BMW M sub-brand. Introduced in June 2019, the M8 was initially produced in the 2-door convertible (F91 model code) and 2-door coupe (F92 model code) body styles. A 4-door sedan (F93 model code, marketed as 'Gran Coupe') body style was added to the lineup in October 2019. The M8 is powered by the BMW S63 twin-turbocharged V8 engine shared with the BMW M5 (F90). Official website: BMW M
Unfortunately new M8 not well rated by Autocar, due to the suspension been too stiff, not absorbing enough and underdamped.

BMW M8 Coupe 2019 review
From £120,715

3 and half stars

Mighty performance impressively and entertainingly managed on track, but ride too sudden to make a great GT

What is it?
It...

Car UK said something similar and along the lines of 'the big elephant in the room is the GBP 20,000 cheaper M5 Competition'.

Gran Coupe could change minds and make more sense. For me, the F90 is all the car I'd ever need. Heck...even the very accomplished 540i xDrive/M340i/330i would suit my current lifestyle just great!

Don't know. Looks simple, probably in person its better.
In all seriousness, it's not so much about the looks and much more about the build quality. It's deeply impressive - everything feels incredibly solid and tightly fitted together with premium surfaces everywhere. It's imperious.

I am not surprised by the verdict by most journalists. I always considered the 8-Series a rebadged 6-Series: A heavy and very expensive GT.

The M8 is listed at £124,000 in the UK. In three years time it will likely be on the used market for £35-40k, having lost more than 60% of its value. It's a depreciation mönster.

I am surprised that the programming of the ZF8 isn't as aggressive and sporty as in the X3M competition.

Interesting verdict from Stevie boy, he said the M8 doesnt oversteer and seems too sensible, not like a sports car but more quick Grand tourer and doesn't have a great sounding exhaust and not quick enough gear change. Seems very different to the M5 which it is based on and is more of a drivers car cause that oversteers in a flick of the wrist and has a quick gear change.

They rebadged it to charge more, for what essentially is, an M6.

I don't know if we can know in advance that I will depreciate so much from here to three years, It is a new model, an M8 that also never existed before.

I watched 6 videos, 5 liked it and the others just mentioned their dissatisfaction with a couple of things, I don't think it is enough to start defenestrating it....

Put the M8 in RWD-only mode and sure as hell it'll oversteer. Obviously.

The M8 existed before but was called the M6. Same price, similar weight and same engine as the M5. Check out prices of 3-4 year old M6 coupe and Grancoupe.

Unfortunately for the M8, the M4 is more thrilling to drive at nearly half the price, while the M5 will offer the same driving experience for less and has four doors.

Journalists disappointed with the car are those with different expectations. The car is a GT and needs to be treated as such. It will rarely see the track, but it can handle the track.

The suspension is harsh and bouncy, true, but it can be adjusted in many different ways. So that can be solved.

People that buy an M5 might not even look at the M8. Two different characters. One it's a business sedan, the other a sleek gran tourer. Flashy vs non-flashy.

BMW M

BMW M GmbH, formerly known as BMW Motorsport GmbH, is a subsidiary of BMW AG that manufactures high-performance luxury cars. BMW M ("M" for "motorsport") was initially created to facilitate BMW's racing program, which was very successful in the 1960s and 1970s. As time passed, BMW M began to supplement BMW's vehicle portfolio with specially modified higher trim models, for which they are now most known by the general public. These M-badged cars traditionally include modified engines, transmissions, suspensions, interior trims, aerodynamics, and exterior modifications to set them apart from their counterparts. All M models are tested and tuned at BMW's private facility at the Nürburgring racing circuit in Germany.
