2 Series [Official] BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé (F44)

The BMW 2 Series is a range of subcompact executive cars (C-segment) manufactured by BMW since the year 2014. The 2 Series was created when BMW spun-off the 2-door models (coupé and convertible) of the BMW 1 Series into a separate series.

The new BMW 2 Series Coupé will be produced at the BMW Group’s plant in Leipzig, with the market launch starting in March 2025.

New generation of engines, 7-speed Steptronic transmission as standard.

In addition, the drive portfolio for the market launch includes advanced 4-cylinder petrol and diesel engines with 125 kW/170 hp in the new BMW 220 Gran Coupé and 120 kW/163 hp in the new BMW 220d Gran Coupé and 110 kW/150 hp in the new BMW 218d Gran Coupé. All engines transfer their power to the road as standard via a 7-speed Steptronic transmission with double clutch. The drives of the BMW 220 Gran Coupé and the BMW 220d Gran Coupé are electrified with 48-volt mild hybrid technology.

Top model with racing DNA and outstanding performance.

The BMW M235 xDrive Gran Coupé is at the top of the model range and features significantly enhanced performance characteristics. Powered by a 221 kW/300 hp 4-cylinder engine, the BMW M performance automobile accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.9 seconds. An M Technology package for racetrack-oriented performance, including additional lightweight construction measures, 19-inch forged M light-alloy wheels and an M compound brake system offering particularly high deceleration performance, is also offered exclusively for the BMW M235 xDrive Gran Coupé.

Other than the Kia Forte front end, this is a huge improvement over the current gen. Proportions look a lot better with the return of a proper hofmeister kink.

Imagine the front without that hood shutline!
No it wouldn't be great, but sure as hell would be a lot better than with that horrible line running across the middle of the hood!

Also wonder how many are going to take the '35' part out from the name on the back and pretend they have an M2:

They're going to fool a lot of people with the quad exhaust setup very easily.
This new rear looks like infinitely better than before the FL though thank God.

This is BMW's ugliest rear ever. I am actually surprised they were able to make it look this good with a FL. It's like an entirely new car.

Front is awful. Much worse than pre fl version. I though it was Kia

Back is better but still trash.

Interior same as entry BMW 1er. Weird small driver display besides center display.

All engines with lower hp.

Maybe the worst BMW in lineup.

this looks like a major LCI of the current model but is supposed to be new. The new headlights and tail lights look much better than the previous model, although I don't think this car looks pretty at all.

Yes I also noticed this on the 1 series. They have reduced the power of the 120i and 120d models, in this day and age when most new models will bring improvements in powertrain power BMW goes backwards lol. The new 120d/220d is producing the same power as my old 2005 E90 320d. So BMW now are 20 years behind the times with engine outputs,

Euro 4 versus Euro 6e

BMW has a Euro6e 520d with 145kw, why cant the 120d/220d have the same engine tech and power?

The point was that output isn't the only thing that evolves, emissions standards have as well. The CO2 emissions from the 5-er are quite a bit worse than the 1-er/2-er in respect of BMW's target.

As for why the smaller FWD cars can't use the engine and tech from the bigger, more expensive, more heavily polluting RWD cars is most likely going to be down to what criteria the car needs to meet. Personally I don't mind them doing this on models like the x20, because most people buying them aren't going to value a small increase in performance (that may torpedo fleet averages), provided this minimises the nickel & diming on the higher performance variants.

That's wild this car is only just getting unveiled, felt like I had seen the design months ago, assumed it had already been revealed lol. Looks not good, as expected.

Since the arrival of the U06 in Y21, the 20d was replaced by 23d version in the small/compact FWD series. Whereas, the new 20d basically replaces the former 18d models, while also offering certain boost in output.

In terms of peak output, 23d are actually +14hp ahead of the 20d found in models starting from 3 Series upwards.

Expect the 123d and 223d Gran Coupe to be offered starting next year, possibly also in conjunction with xDrive as an option, besides FWD.

I don't know but I like the front of the previous generation more than this generation !!
The headlights on this and the new 1er are the ugliest headlights in bmw line up

In this particular segment of automobile, one has now come to expect products appearing "pudgy". The new 2 series GC is no exception. The upcoming M-B MMA CLA will also present that attribute. As the Audi A3 sedan already does as well. IMHO, smaller SUVs and SACs are more appealing. As would be a VW Golf hatchback. Notchback/Fastback 4 door sedans seem to visually "work" from the lower executive segment (BMW 3er etc.) upwards.

I am a bmw fan but the cla is 1000000000x times better than the 2 er gran coupe
