I witnessed a M850i with less that 2k miles getting a full engine rebuild. Frankly I was shocked that the N/S63’s still have these teething issues 12 years later. Great performing engine, but has caused so many headaches.

Hydro-locked and blew a rod out the side of the block because the injector was stuck open, which also dumped fuel into the combustion chamber. Also, some substantial premature carbon buildup on cylinders.

Relax, you can walk into any big OEM workshop and spot the latest and greatest with major problems.

Yes but, I agree with the point that @manuelf is putting across. Surely by now, considering the age and number of improvement iterations of the N63, issues with this unit should be pretty much sorted out? We've got first hand experience from members on this forum who've had problems with this engine.
