Quattroporte [Official] Maserati Quattroporte (VI)

The Maserati Quattroporte is a four-door full-size luxury sedan produced by Maserati. The name translated from Italian means "four doors".
It isn't just the switches, its the whole damn car. Its a re-skinned 300 from what I can see.

I think that's overly simplistic way of putting. I'm sure there are platform parts that are incorporated from the Chrysler but the whole car is not a 300 in an Italian suit. The engines is pretty much a Maserati-only proposition. As with the switches, well Audi does incorporate some bits from VW's and Lexus uses a fair amount og Toyota switchgear. But I do understand the backlash; after all, this car is US$100,000+. And Maserati is a more exclusive brand vs. Audi and Lexus.

Toyota and Lexus are vary similar, i.e. nearly as boring to each other as they can be. This car however WAS the 4-door Ferrari, and that it seemingly rides on a chassis derived from a 2 generations ago E-Class, is an insult. The interior has lost all of its flair, only the enigne is unique, as you state. I bet even the V6 is derived from the Chrsyler V6, do we know? They didn't even bother to change the layout or architecure, just better finishes and more leather. The car is quite shameful IMO. That said, I bet its a better car in every objective way, but lust and wow factors are gone. Audi and VW don't have such a problem. Yes the crib off each other, but still nothing this blatant from what I see and Audi and VW are more similar than Chrysler and Maserati are.

I somewhat agree, it was a Ferrari 4-door. However one must consider that previous QP had bits from lesser Lancias and Fiats. In the States, we were largely unaware of that fact.

I haven't kept track much of any recent road tests/evaluations this past month, but the last one I saw had Autocar pit it against Jag XJ. Now if I recalled, it was a more sporting proposition vs. the XJ, thus losing the comparison test. However, it was still reviewed rather favorably. So I ask, if the car drives well and is well-built, how much should the Maser be penalized for that because it uses Chrysler/Daimler bits? Also compared to the previous gen, the new one does look more bloated, but that's surely out of necessity. The previous gen was much more cramped than the S-class/7er/etc. It would be hard to translate Gen V's shape when taking into account its competition and current and future safety regs.

True, but ahh....as you say we weren't aware of that here. Even still all those were Italian cars, not a Mercedes-Chrysler hybrid. IMO yes, the car is lost and I wouldn't go near it now. Like I said, it may be a better car, but the previous version was more of a car, if that makes sense. It was exotic, this new model has just moved right into the mainstream, and while it may drive good, in all other areas it will be murdered by the S-Class, Panamera and the like. If the Jaguar XJ is beating it, it doesn't stand a chance against the German competition, and the Panamera and S8 will likely beat it up dynamically also. IMO they should have taken some of that 1.63B and invested in a true, state of the art RWD/AWD chassis that the QP, Granturismo and Levante could have been based on. Just my take, that I'm sure wouldn't mesh with the accountants.

Segrio just wants to do what Ferdinand did. But it won't pass as good. You can't ruin as brand that fast and hope nobody notices it. Ferdinand has been doing that for two decades, all have been brain washed, so it is no more an issue for him.

This cars' predecessor, introduced in 2003, was a revelation when it made its' appearance. The new Quattroporte seems so...ordinary... in comparison. I trust that the upcoming Ghibli sedan will be a somewhat more interesting, more dynamic proposition.

^ And that car they've already said will be based on the 300. They're openly admitting that it will be, or so they did a few months ago. All those articles could have been pulled now though. If you want a real Maserati and not a TC by Maserati (as like before with the linkup with Chrysler) you'll buy the current Granturismo or outgoing Quattroporte. Everything new coming is Chrysler based, and won't have the it factor anymore, at least not for my $$.

I don't get why all of a sudden everybody praises the previous Quattroporte. I did, and for me it was and probably yet is the most beautiful sedan ever. You can even see my posts in the Maserati Picture thread. But all in all I only heard negative comments from most people regarding the previous QP. Now it is too late to like the previous QP. You had to express your love by buying it, just as now I feel the obligation (but can't afford) owning the GT86, 4C and Cayman, to prove I really care about compact sportscars. I'm sorry, but what the new QP is desevered, nobody loved the previous one, so it is gone. Unfortunately the same fate will happen for the GranTurismo, which till now is the most beautiful coupé ever designed.
I'm sick of these contradictions of the public opinion:
"The new QP is worse because its engine is no more NA as it was before, but the M5 is better because now it has a turbocharger and so has more torque." WTF?

Well the previous car wasn't perfect, but people I think loved the car for what it was, flaws and all. The new car is probably better in every objective way, but it won't satisfy the way the old car did. As for me personally the Granturismo cabrio was a thought for me, but costs involved scared me away.

New Maserati Quattroporte ordered more than 8.000 times already

Next to the Alfa Romeo 4C, also the new Maserati Quattroporte is selling very well. While the Ghibli has only just started collecting orders, the Quattroporte already has 8.000 of them. This was announced yesterday, during the presentation of the quarterly figures. Especially customers from Asia and North-America have put their signature for one of these magnificent flagships. It is perfectly in line with what Maserati was hoping for.

Yesterday was also the day when the Avvocato Giovanni Agnelli-factory in Grugliasco Turin switched to a double shift-crew in order to cope with the demand and, consequently, start producing the Ghibli as well. This means that all 1.000 employees are now at work in the new Maserati-plant.

I hope FIAT will be successful and will have the budget to build a good next generation of cars on par with the German.

This car is just a huge disappointment..

The previous generation will go down as an iconic car in my eyes

That sure is one sweet-sounding exhaust. Music to the ears. My most favorite feature in the new Quattroporte.

BTW, at 1:13 did he crash or got shot? Lol.
