Osna, I'm in concurrence with almost everything you just said. You summed up Audi's design approach well with that song anaolgy. They have a great design, but it's the same bloody design. Though, I still think that BMW has some variability in their design language...keep in mind only the 5er and 7er look similar during this design cycle. We haven't seen what the new 1er and 3er will look like. We can infer the design of the 6er based on camouflaged prototypes and the GranCoupe concept, and even there there's a lot of variability between that and its sedan counterparts. M-B has been quite good the last 15 years about having a consistent design language while giving each line up its own identity. But then again you slap on that M-B grill and it has too try real hard not feel part of the M-B family.
Also, I feel the current A6 exterior is a dilution of the previous Bauhaus-inspired A6, but the interior quality and layout was and still is superb....only surpassed by the F10 5er. I'm still looking to see what Audi has in store for the A6. I do like that they are slimming down the headlights with this...that's at least a start. Also is it me, or have they done a pretty decent job of reducing the front overhang of this car?

Stuck is maybe the right word.
I love the way Audis look right now and think they have a superb lineup - The only problem is the general lack of variety in their playlist. It's like a band that only plays ballads... great ballads, but only ballads.
No matter what is coming from Audi at the moment, you can be sure that it's going to look pretty much like every other "song" from Audi, with 3 verses, a bridge and a key change.
Strangely enough, the same can be said of BMW. Everything post-bangle has been the same predictable song and dance save the Z4.
It's mind-numbingly ironic that the most stuffy brand of the bunch - MB - has the lineup with the most thematic flair and model-to-model individualism.
I'm still looking forward to this A6. The previous A6 was an unsurprising, dull affair - but still handsome as all hell. And we can be sure this A6 will continue that tradition.
