Great engine sound and the cars handling balance seems excellent with virtually zero body roll. It might be an even better drive than the Huracan this V10 Plus. I would agree with you guys about the weight of the car been at least 1600kg EU which is not bad at all and at least in the same ball park or less than rivals from Mercedes (AMG GT S) and Porsche 911 Turbo/S.

@NarutoRamen sorry I didn't check your picture in the enlarged size and I must say that man has fascinating facial features, hair and beard colour and jewelry.

In Autocar article they mention the weight of the new R8 V10 Plus is 66kg less than the current model.

The new structure is described as being central to the new R8’s performance gains. It offers a 40% improvement in static rigidity along with weight savings that enable the car to hit the scales at 1454kg in V10 Plus guise - 66kg less than its predecessor but still 32kg more than the Huracán.

As per Audi Germany Website the R8 LMX (570PS/419kW) and R8 V10 Plus (550PS/404kW) both weigh 1670kg, which would mean the new one weighs 1604kg EU spec (150kg difference with dry weight), which is pretty good and competitive with rivals. For comparison the performance claims for R8 LMX are 3.4sec to 100km/h and 320km/h (199mph) and R10 Plus is 3.5sec to 100km/h and 317km/h (197mph), so the new version (3.2sec and 330km/h) is Fast with a capital F.

So the V10 Plus will have 610 HP and 560NM ot torque? Hmmm getting excited about this one!

@João Pinho Yeah, that's an exciting number for sure. Honestly, if they price this correctly, it will definitely give the Huracan a run for its money in sales. As in the "not so poor man's Huracan." :D

Audi R8 could eventually be offered with a 400+ bhp V6 engine

Audi is gearing up to introduce the redesigned R8 at the Geneva Motor Show and new details are starting to emerge about several potential new variants.

In an interview with Top Gear, R8 technical lead Roland Schala said the production line is so flexible that the company can easily change it to offer "different models like a Superleggera, or GT or Clubsport" variant.

Schala declined to go into specifics but hinted a "V6 is a perfect engine for this kind of car." He went on to suggest a potential V6 model could have at least 400 bhp (298 kW).

The engineer also said the company is considering a diesel variant but wasn't sure if the engine would be worth the additional weight. Schala also hinted at the possibility of a plug-in hybrid but suggested the automaker wasn't sure if there was enough demand to warrant production.

I worry a bit that the "new" R8 will look very similar to the old R8........even more so than what Porsche has done to evolve the 911 from different generations (993 to 996 to 997 to 991).

Obviously the biggest difference between the two R8s is that the first one is timeless. But I do like the new one more.

It's a CGI from Audi itself. Believe me, I've seen worse official CGIs from Audi than this one.

Look at the Audi badge on the bonnet. It's clearly been attacked by an editing tool. It's terrible! Also around the lights area, you can see where it has been edited.

Audi

Audi AG is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury vehicles headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. A subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, the company’s origins date back to the early 20th century and the initial enterprises (Horch and the Audiwerke) founded by engineer August Horch (1868–1951). Two other manufacturers (DKW and Wanderer) also contributed to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932. The modern Audi era began in the 1960s, when Volkswagen acquired Auto Union from Daimler-Benz, and merged it with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969.
