A6/S6/RS6 Next Generation Audi A6 (C7)

I have to say if the car looks like andy´s render, it will be incredibly elegant and sober. Even being the same as always, the front has huge presence, and the side profile is quite sleek and elegant.

In fact, in this grey colur, I like it more than the E-Class, and less than the 5er.

Intro

Hi all. Just wanted to take a sec and say thanks for this thread and hello for my first post. This seems to be the only forum on the web with any meaningful, ongoing discussions regarding the C7. I'm also a member over at audizine and Audiworld. I drive a B8 modded Avant. I'm anxiously awaiting the C7 as a replacement for my A4 (next year?). Hopefully I can become a meaningful contributor to this site as well. Please keep all the great info coming!

I agree, the 5er is a beautiful looking car, personally if the A6 looks as well as the A7 from the front then I reckon the A6 will look even better than the 5er, the real question is whether the tail will look as elegant.

P.S.
As always it's the inside where Audi rules and the A6 will continue this trend.

You're welcome. Thanks for joining the forum.

Andy's front is indeed spectacular, those LED-headlights and especially the newly shaped grille are giving the car a powerful presence.

However, the side is exactly the same old thing as the C5, with the C6-crease barely modified... That is gonna look old very soon.

And I hope the rear will not have the same sad and sorry design as recent Audis, with those crying tailamps...

I am sure this has been discussed before, but I will point out again, why did Audi give the new A6 the more aggressive headlight design and give the boring one to the A7?

Same reason why they didn't give the nice trapezoidal grille to the new A8?...

They weren't ready for all that change, maybe? Happened too fast?

Maybe they think the A6 is a more important model than the A7 or A8, thus wanted to reserve all the goodies for it and then spread it via FL to the other models?

Audi single-grille evolution: trapezoid -> hexagon -> octagon -> decagon -> circle or oval???? :t-hands:

Totally off topic, but yesterday I drove, myself, C6 RS6 sedan....... Hot damn!!!!!

Well tell me klier, after that experience are you starting to warm to the idea of BMW's switch to FI. ;)

It was just magnificent! I'm still in awe. But to answer your question, there was some slight turbo lag, mostly in first gear. But oh well, 580 up made up for that. And then some..

Well I believe the M5 will be even better, it's adopting the latest turbo technology and has even more torque, plus it's lighter.

Now spotted "nearly undisguised" testing in the US:

Why bother with the disguise when it looks like a bigger A4. It looks nice, but boring.

Things is.. I don't see any disguise except for the thick layer of dust (well yes the nose is disguised, but that's because it's going to be completely off-the-charts radical.... for Audi's standards of course). :D

Dead-set looks like the A4L from side on.

Looks like an identical glasshouse to the '05 Ford Five Hundred.

Why is Audi evolving their glasshouses to a regressive less Euro/expensive look? Unless I see a well equipped new A4, they look so "Korean Rental Car" to me, and a lot of that is due to the greenhouse fail. Why did they axe their patented exterior B-Pillar style as well?

This one isn't doing it for me so far.

Apparently a relatively subtle evolution of Audis' signature design language. Perhaps a bit more dynamic than the outgoing C6 A6 due to its' longer wheelbase, diminished front overhang, cab backwards appearance. It looks' far more like a RWD car than its' predecessor which, in my opinion, is not a bad thing. Official press photographs and ultimately seeing the car in the metal may reveal some visually enticing details that we cannot detect in these spyshots. The F10 BMW 5 series met my enthusiasm immediately following its' launch. The M-B W212 E-Class was very difficult for me to digest at first but I now find it quite interesting. This new A6 is somewhere in between.
Incidentally, I saw the new Audi A7 for the first time yesterday-in the metal. Another car in which photographs cannot do it justice. Absolutely gorgeous !!

Audi

Audi AG is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury vehicles headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. A subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, the company’s origins date back to the early 20th century and the initial enterprises (Horch and the Audiwerke) founded by engineer August Horch (1868–1951). Two other manufacturers (DKW and Wanderer) also contributed to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932. The modern Audi era began in the 1960s, when Volkswagen acquired Auto Union from Daimler-Benz, and merged it with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969.
