GLC (X253) [Spyshots] Spy Photos 2015 Mercedes-Benz GLC (AKA GLK)

The Mercedes-Benz GLC (X253) is the first generation of the GLC compact luxury crossover SUV range. Body styles: X253 (5-door SUV), C253 (5-door coupé SUV). It is succeeded by the GLC (X254/C254). Production: 2015-2022. Model years: 2016-2022.
I would bet it will. Mercedes is pushing all the C-Class based vehicles upmarket it seems. The GLK is going to force the ML to move up and the then the GL will have too.
M

That would make sense given the GLA's imminent arrival. BMW's already modeling how it's done- you'll notice the new X5 has moved up a bit in price, material quality, and available options. They'll have the X1, X3, and X5 all stacked together. The ML and GL already have the same options and basic interior so that'll be easy to adjust.

Any rear view photo ?

Here's a rear render from Autobild/Larson, compared to the GLK Coupe. :)

I just looked at the next X5, very, very pricey, but stunning. Really curious to see how it sells.

I like the Larson rendering. Of course this means that MB is humbly admitting that Audi had it right with the Q5, and that the GLK's squarish design was a mistake.

It should also be noted that the X5 price went up. A 2wd now cost as much as an AWD used to. And I heard that they are pushing 2wd. A mistake IMO. BMW has pushed the X5 more upscale and then positoned the X3 to take on other mid-sized luxuries. I think MB should follow suit. The GLK should be positioned to compete more with the Lexus RX. That thing has no business being cross shopped with an X5 or ML.

Agreed, and I already said all of that in my post above. I think this will definitely be the move now that the GLA is taking care of the bottom end, much like the X1 is covering BMW's bottom end. This is a direct mirror of what's happening with the sedan lineup with the CLA pushing it's bigger brothers up a notch.

I think that is exactly what they're going to do across the lineup C, E, GLK, next ML etc.

Did we lose the ability post pics/media???

There are new photos of the GLK interior, but I can't post them, don't see the options anymore???

M

Yep. It is identical to the C-Class it appears.

M

It seems like the new C-Class is ring in a new interior design era. I like it.

Well this is why MB can afford to make the interiors higher quality... Using the same one for 2 different models saves a lot of money. Too bad the A range didn't benefit from the higher quality.

Looks great, just as it did in the C-class.

The A/CLA/GLA would be too expensive with this caliber of interior. I would definitely have to get one of those models with the leather interior option so I could get a soft touch dashboard.

I am a big fan of the new C-class interior, but I was hoping for some differentiation. Also, based on that presentation that was given sometime ago, that SUVs and sedans will have two distinct interior design language?

It looks like that is a way of the past. These newest cars seemed to be grouped by size. i.e. CLA & GLA get same interior (compact), GLK & C get same interior (small). Makes me wonder what's in store for the next gen M and E.

Yep..there will be different classes of interiors..as before..but even more so now.

Class 1: CLA,A,GLA,B
Class 2: C all variants, GLK,
Class 3: E all variants, ML
Class 4: S,CL, hopefully the next GL will be brought up in interior design to the S level to compete with the Ranger Rovers
Class 5: SL,SLK,SLS/C
Stand alone models: G and CLS ( hopefully)

2015 Mercedes-Benz GLK spied up close in Germany with stretched wheelbase

Seems to sit lower than current gen
The all-new Mercedes-Benz GLK has been caught on camera once again, this time conducting testing on the streets of Germany.

These recent spy photos show us a camouflaged prototype which seems to ride lower than the current generation. The vehicle appears to have grown in size and should come with a longer wheelbase that will provide more room for the passengers, especially the ones sitting in the back.

It is a known fact the next-gen GLK will utilize the 2014 C-Class platform and that it will be developed for right-hand drive markets as well. The GLK 250 is expected to get a new four-cylinder, 1.8-liter turbo engine while the GLK 250 BlueTec will be powered by a four-cylinder, 2.1-liter diesel. A V6 engine will be fitted inside the GLK 350 and there are talks about an AMG version as well.

The second generation of the Mercedes-Benz GLK will be revealed sometime next year and is programmed to go on sale as a 2015MY.
