GLE [Spyshots] 2016 Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe

The Mercedes-Benz GLE, formerly Mercedes-Benz M-Class (designated with the "ML" nomenclature), is a mid-size luxury SUV produced by the German manufacturer Mercedes-Benz since 1997. In terms of size, it is slotted in between the smaller GLC and the larger GLS, the latter with which it shares platforms.
^ Acturally they're just one,but divided into a few pieces.:ROFLMAO:

You are absolutely right. It's called "CreativeTeasing TM" :p: let's give people one look & divide it into several pieces to look like there are several teasers. Although the value of the info stays the same all the time ... the difference is only that you get it in several pieces instead in a single one only.

Still, I hope we get the tail & side shots ASAP.

Another tease, about how the rear may look? :)

Something similar to this?

So, the tail deck is still horizontal but not as much as seen on X6. Actually it's more sloping.

So, it's similar to CLS vs 6er GC tail design solutions (one being more sloping & the other one more horizontal).

it looks like shit.. i hate these types of cars..its impossible to get a good profile..

It just looks tall fat and awkward like the X6.

Hahaha, just because MB sucks at it....

This thing here looks like a blob. With a Van front. Disgusting.

That's exactly what some buyers like & want: a very bulky & rather exotic looking rhino-like premium "tank". That's also why Hammers were popular as well. And why eg. MB G is still in demand. Not everybody likes the rather anemic looking SUVs - even large ones like GL or RangeRover. Some want more: to stand out more. To drive more exotic SUVs.

Therefore tanks like Hammer or SACs are extremely popular.
And I predict ultra-luxury SUVs form Bentley, Rolls-Royce, Maserati, Aston Martin, Lamborghini etc will sell like hot cakes!

have you seen the retarded looking X4? lol

Have you? It doesn't look retarded in real life ... in 3D. It's really low for a vehicle of that format. Actually it's lower than the Evoque - yet much longer. Actually, it's as long & as tall as Macan.

Doesent matter how low or tall it is..

The design of the damn thing is tragic.

It's alright, the front of this concept has a tragic looking front, speaking with your words. Even when you only see the front and not even know what the rest of the car is shaped like.

Could be a pick up for all I care:

Damn....

The only thing I like:

I love the new take on the grill with the horizontal bar then wrapping around the Star. Pretty neat.

Something else to consider, as Sayyaaf posted the other day. :)

Fastback

In the 60s, motor racing engineers started to take aerodynamics seriously. They discovered that if they reduce the slope of the back of a car to 20 degrees or less, the air flow will follows the roof line smoothly and dramatically reduce the drag. They termed this design as "Fastback". As a result, many racing cars, such as the Porche 935 / 78 "Moby Dick" shown here, added an exaggerately long tail and lower the back.

For a 3-box car, air flow leaves the car straightly at the end of roof line. The dramatic drop of rear screen creates a low pressure area around, this attracts some air flows back to complement, thus creates turbulence. Turbulence always deteriorates drag coefficient.

However, this is still better than something between a 3-box and a fastback. If the rear screen angle is around 30 to 35 degrees, the air flow will be very unstable. It could greatly deteriorate the high speed stability. In the past, car makers had little knowledge about this and created many cars like this.

I have several opinions on this vehicle.........
....and they are all, "NO!"

At best this is a niche vehicle. I don't see investing the time and effort in these low volume, goofy looking oddities.
MB better get their sh-- together on the GL. BMW is going to come hard and heavy into that market. The GL needs a LWB.
Has anyone seen the rear leg room on the new Range Rover? Holy cow.

lol @Wolfgang totally forgot I posted something like that. Thanks man, presheyeted :D

Ir seems MB is ditching the dropping line. On this MLC looks straighter, and the Autobild renders of the W213 E-Class habe traditional looking shoulder line.
