The Mercedes-Benz W205 is the fourth generation of the Mercedes-Benz C-Class which was produced by Daimler AG between 2014 and 2021. The W205 C-Class was preceded by the W204 C-Class and superseded by the W206 C-Class. Don't forget, there was never ML. It was always M Class. Letter 'L' is used solely as a designation on a car itself, and to avoid confusion (and possible legal consequences) with BMW's M letter.

IMO, Audi has solved its designations the best of the three. Although BMW did make it easier since adding even numbers (2, 4, 6, possibly 8), the other two numbers are still adding confusion (328i, 330d, 335d) to an average person.

MB is in a deep s***, especially if they want to make 2 door CLS, 4 door S Class Coupe, or some variation of existing models :S.

Letter F is reserved for F(uture) Concepts (most recently F800, F125), I doubt we will see that designation in use for cars that will be sold on a market.

It seems like MB is getting rid of their diesel engines, and in the future we will only see 4 cylinder diesels. Probably we will get petrol hybrids instead.

I wonder what are they going to do with the W213 E-Class 350 CDI engine.

In tomorrows issue off Autobild on the front cover is a Mercedes C class which will be something like the 3erGT. So this means we can expect a 3er GT rival from Benz.

Mini S.. :)

Don't mock, because BMW has a healthy order list for the first units of the 3er GT , I seen the first models come to the Welt for first customer pick up, and they were all M-Sport packets.

Mercedes are now following the spin-off of each matrix in order to increase profits. Because 3er GT is developed from an existing platform in this case the Chinese based 3er Li which I know that Mercedes will not bypass a longer C-Klasse which given the mini S-Klasse styling , when you think of it kind of makes sense for the Chinese market and its extended wheelbase model.

Such a model is entirely cost effective and will bring in a significant return. And that is Mercedes's goal to increase its sales and profits.

Ulgy, pointless, bought by idiots/ignorants, cheaply built,........blah blah blah, all that counts are Sales and Profit. Sad world.

Mercedes C-Class Hatchback under development - report

Designed to battle the Audi A5 Sportback & BMW 3-Series Gran Turismo

Mercedes is reportedly developing a C-Class Hatchback to battle the Audi A5 Sportbackand BMW 3-Series Gran Turismo.
Little is known about the model, but Autobild says it will be larger than the sedan and afford rear passengers "impressive" head and legroom.
Engine options will likely carryover from the standard model so expect choices to include:
  • A 2.2-liter CDI four-cylinder with outputs of 170 HP (125 kW), 204 HP (150 kW) and 231 HP (170 kW)
  • A turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder with 156 HP (114 kW)
  • A turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder with outputs of 184 HP (135 kW), 211 HP (155 kW) and 252 HP (185 kW)
  • A twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 with 333 HP (245 kW)
The C-Class Hatchback will reportedly be launched in 2016 and carry a sticker that is substantially higher than the sedan.

I'm going to be sick... If they make that s*it, I'll open new account, and be known as - E30.

They should be making 4 GC competitor, but then again, I kinda understand them - that segment (3 GT) will probably be very popular in China.

The other thing is that Audi are also following suit with an A4L based model.
The appeal is the choice of passenger space that customers in that segment will be interested in over the standard model.

As a shade of things to come. BMW might , if the GT breaks its projections decide to introduce a high performance GT whether under M or the more accessible M Performance brand and probably as a diesel.

Yes, I'm almost surprised Audi has no RS5 Sportback.
