Is this the result of DR Z leaving?

who knows. My only theory is that the designers are going to save the Uber lux finishes and materials for the EQS in efforts to reposition it as the flagship to bring attention and sales to its electric platform aka the way of the future. In doing so they are cheating the true flagship S class of being the crème de la crème of the lineup. we can see this in its copy/paste exterior design whereas the W222/W205/W213 have similar exteriors the W223/FL W213 and W206 will look nearly identical in their taillight, front end and steering wheel design among other things

You and klier, complaining, lol. Those are called bezels. Klier has the i-phone 11 last time I hear.
Rather large bezels and thick Camera notch.

We still have a long way to go with the W223 reveal. Hold off on drawing conclusions.

agreed. Looks like it’s better suited for the SUVs. Too boxy and techy for my taste

I prefer it honestly. The W222 has a very pretty door panel, but it was also quite busy. The door handle/door lock switches, window switches, seat control, memory/heating/cooling, and speaker grille were all placed somewhat haphazardly on the door. This design cleans things up quite a bit; a theme you'll see running throughout the interior from what I'm told. I particularly liked that the unlock/lock buttons are integrated into the door handle design.

I haven't seen in any interior mock up pics yet (hopefully very soon) but I'm told the whole theme of the interior is supposed to be about a seamless experience with a focus on everything easily falling to hand. I'm somewhat skeptical of this given the complexity of the car but we'll see. I think the boudoir interior fan base may be a bit taken aback at the more streamlined interior design.

I do agree with above ESPECIALLY on the S Class Coupe where the the switches and door handles look randomly placed and out of place on the door. The flowing wood on the W222 is a thing of beauty though, and the new S doesn't look beautiful, looks more like an Audi.

Very informative thanks Serpens I too am taken back already but certain elements but I’m definitely up for change. I can already see how they have streamlined the SUV interiors, not bad from my experience but I’m thinking the newfound focus and theme of the W223 interior is different from what we saw in recent concepts, besides the EQS obviously.

Anyone note that the seat climate/memory control is actually a touch screen and not buttons?

We also have a glimpse of final air vents.

The test car itself is actually a Maybach, so slightly concerning it doesn’t appear opulent, though it’s too early to judge.
