CLA [Spy Shots] 2024 Mercedes MMA model (CLA) first pictures

The Mercedes-Benz CLA is a series of luxury subcompact executive cars manufactured by Mercedes-Benz since 2013. The first generation was a four-door sedan based on the platform of the W176 A-Class and W246 B-Class compact cars, marketed as a four-door coupé. In 2015, Mercedes-Benz expanded the CLA family to include a station wagon configuration which it markets as a Shooting Brake. As the V177 A-Class sedan took its place as the budget-conscious sedan, the second generation got longer and wider than the W205 C-Class.

The interior is a huge disappointment. It looks very cheap and ordinary with the cost cutting and loss of most of the details from the concept.

Mercedes needs a new design team. Their latest designs are terrible and none of them make you want to buy anymore.

Mercedes needs a new "Neue Klasse" approach.

Does the same apply to this?

Touché.
Although the LCI works better with the 2er Gran Coupe than the 1er Sporthatch. Whatever future belies for the 2er Gran Coupe it’s a momentary pause for whatever comes after.

I personally really liked the C257 CLS as well, especially in AMG 53 trim. Sadly, it was a relative flop in terms of unit sales, despite its IMHO stunning looks.

yep, the C257 was also a beauty...but Daimler killed his soul: no V8, no 2+2 Seats and no individual Cockpit....very sad.

Someone just pointed out that it’s a Mercedes under the Stellantis umbrella and could be sold as a new Lancia Dedra should Mercedes grant shared rights.

Cool finish :) cheap plastic plus black screw. ;)

I'm actually super curious to know if that's a screw. That would be utterly bizarre to have one random screw exposed in the entire interior. I'm hoping when more pics come out we can look at that more clearly. That looks like an ambient light senor or climate sensor more than anything to me.

What a disappointment, the front design of this car is totally ruined with those ugly headlights and lightbar. Even the tail lights are too much EQ.

Gordon Wagener and Ola needs to go, they are ruining this brand.

I thought they learned from their design mistake that is EQS, Yeesh, no wonder BYD and Chinese cars are taking them down in sales.

The 2 main problems with these type of cars are the segment and them being FWD. Bigger models like the 4er/8er GC, CLS and A5/A7 look gorgeous because they’re longer, and the FWD proportions are not present.
Simply, the FWD + Gran Coupe formula just doesn’t work.

I don't think the 2nd gen CLA suffered from this issue.

I thought Mercedes had done a really good job with it tbh.

Agreed. If the ICE/Hybrid version uses a different front end with no light-bar, Mercedes should do what the G-wagen and make the light-bar an option.

...what.

Between the fact that there's less room in the back than before despite the larger car, what will undoubtedly be oceans of hard and scratchy plastics in the interior, the ugly light bar on the front, wonky grill and an exploding galaxy's worth of stars thrown up all over the car, I'm at an utter loss of comprehension.

What happened to Mercedes?
