Despite Corona: no delay with S-Class!

The launch of the new S-Class is on time. That should be at the end of 2020.

@Sonder: Point "6.) Plastic around the screen" and "12.) Bulge" are the same: camo :)

The second pic undert point 6 is the EQS - not the S-Class.

And i am sure, the ambient light will be amazing...

OLED dashboard do not have to wait? Why no one uses them, because it is a great black color that does not blind your eyes at night.
Oled still has burn-in issues, but still, iOS was the very first soft to have micro movement, away from the eye, this way pixels dont stay stuck on still images, but the other issue, that always happen on Oled tv also...is that the blue pixels are the first to fade away , so for someone who travels around 10-20k km per year, it shouldnt be a problem...but for those who travel a lot more...the quality is blown away....the future is micro-led but maybe in 10 years since until now they couldnt shrink the pixel from that tech and thats why we only have very big TV with micro-LED.......the ideal future for displays will be micro-LED with sapphire crystal, no more scratches, no less dim because of the sapphire crystal, but i guess, we will have to wait another 10 more years at least

Yesterday I have done an online interview with the VP-Sale & Marketing of Mercedes-Benz India, one of my question was in regard with future models for 2020 and in specific I asked about the launch of W223 S-Class in India (normally new models hit Indian market in 6-8 months of global launch), his reply was as per the schedule new S was suppose to make its world premier by 2020 end and by mid 2021 in India. When I asked if there is any delay in launch he said, no decision taken so far of the change is launch date so far, but having said it will depend on how long the lock down and Covid will continue, if it prolong then there will be difficulty in getting components from the suppliers that can cause in launch.

11.) Indicator for lock/unlock
i like that the indicator was bringing to the front, so you dont repeatedly press it with your elbow while your arm is leaning
That's just the button that holds the door panel cover when the car is parked during the testing phase.

@Sonder, thanks for posting this. It shows the cascading angle of the dashboard. The angle must be true because Hartmut Sinkwitz gave a clear indication of it in the W223 S-Class from the article @Wolfgang posted. (He also said "Large places where wood would be placed")
It would not surprise me if wood is being used where the dash falls. It actually appears so if you zoom a little where that start button is located.

The screen appears to standoff (float, in tech terms) from the dash. This
will actually fall in line with the Vision EQS concept interior. This should give the W223 a techier more modern feel than say a Tesla Model S. Sinkwitz also gave indication that the interior will be space-saving (meaning more coherent with control placement) natural and luxurious feeling.

I personally think the interior will be great once the wraps come off.

My only worry is the placement of the HVAC supply vents that we see sitting atop the screen.
Seems rather incoherent with the falling dash design. I would rather see something like what is seen in the EQS concept.

Guys, does anyone have any ideas on point 10 raised by @Sonder? Then I think that to the left of the central console on the passenger side there is a strip of wood to mean GLE style, but as I repeat it is not clear to me what is above it.

Remember these photos?

I was like WHAT. IS. THIS. SHIT.

Then I saw this photo:

Then I was like "Ooooooh okay I see what you did there, nicely done Mercedes."

So don't abandon hope just yet. I'm mostly worried about the tail lights. Of the current Mercedes cars I only really like the GLE Coupe and the CLA tail lights. I'm afraid this might have the CLS tail lights.

however, the interview with Sinkwitz was very clear. Future Mercedes interiors will be based on the Vision AVTR starting precisely from the S class

First photo looks sick to be honest. Futuristic done right, instead of this vertical tablet...
The vertical tablet might be the secondary way of operating the infotainment system in the next S-class. Maybe it could have a secret other way of viewing in direct line of sight, that is covered up on the top of the dash, maybe HUD with augmented reality display on windscreen?

Seems unlikely because from the spyshots we can see a typical infotainment menu when the tab...

The HUD will be greatly upgraded in the W223, but the vertical screen will be the primary way to manipulate infotainment. This is a bit funny to me only because Mercedes has mentioned they don't love HUD in the past.

If you consider the current Mercedes MBUX system they trying to get away from concentrating all the functions of using only the screen, such as the Speech and Voice Interface and then also the gesture control. I think they would have thought about this carefully to place the screen lower down and vertically by adding in another form of viewing the information higher up in line of sight, such as on the drivers display and also HUD. If its only a vertical screen to be used as the main interface for viewing info then honestly they would have made a big mistake, which is very unlike Mercedes Benz normal way of engineering perfection.
