Yes they are. Michael Bay producer and a Dutch dude is directing it.
But it will be a spiritual remake, not a modern carbon copy like Psycho. Could be interesting.

Are the Birds all going to explode at sunrise?

Haha, I got bored of it. I will have to look for something else

Those creatures would be a nice addition to the Hitchcock remake of 'Birds' :D

How about one of these:

LOL! They need braces!

And lets get back to the SLC :D
Did you guys see that latest vid in the snow above? This car is going to be the bomb. Finally a real sportscar and not a fast boulevard cruiser.

The video made me soar with anticipation. Car looks very good. I also observed it looks far closer in size and stature to the SLS than I expected (had thought the front would look truncated). This model does nt appear to suffer from the slk syndrome of a smaller model.

Leafed through the print car&driver at the store today. They had a rendering of the GT (a well-informed one, they said, as they had seen the final design) and it looked glorious. Same as we have seen earlier in this thread: with the 911-looking rear half. The write up was quite convincing that we are about to see one of the best new model releases in a long time at Mercedes. I do not recall the SLS ever being this desirable. The fact that it is as "cheap" as it is rumored to be (half the price of the SLS) makes one ask where the catch is. The SL is toast, as far as I can think, first the s coupe, now this. It is a great time to be in the market for a personal two seeater sports car with the three-pointed star.

No one else spot the obvious? Mercedes has gone and made an E-type for the 21st century:

front mid-engined, extremely long bonnet; genuinely lightweight construction; high power to weight ratio, affording supercar-like performance; and above all, a reasonable price.

That was the recipe that made the 1960s Jaguar E-type a sensation in its day.

Somewhat like the first CLS - the 'Jag-Fighter' - Mercedes have made a car that is more Jaguar than Jaguar, with the AMG GT.

I know the Mercedes AMG GT is meant to embody the spirit of Mercedes' own original SL racer, but if the above render is close the whole car shouts 'spirit of E-type'.

Great looking car! I know Mercedes said they wanted to go softer with the GT then they did with the SLS, but not too soft, Mercedes!

I think the last photo where the rendering is placed on the top of the spy photo gives us a good idea of the final product. I think the headlights will look better on the finished product as that has been the case in the past. Or at least I hope...

I think Ian Callum would pour a glass of single malt whisky at your face if you that to him in bar.

I don't disagree with you though, the SLC, just like the SLS, appear to have a distinguishable body shape. Comparisons with the F-Type are given, and I relish the introduction of brave coupe designs.

reads like you've had a drop yourself.

au contraire, the F-type is at best a pastiche, at worst a mockery of the 'heir to the E-type'.

The whole point of the E-type was an extraordinarily long bonnet, due mainly to the engine being behind the front axle - like the SLS/GT - being light weight, relatively affordable to the common man, and devastatingly good-looking, somewhat a byproduct of efforts to make it aerodynamic.

The F-type achieves none of the E-type's essence, except for 'its breathtaking, sensational, stunning gorgeousness' - according to the thousands of people employed by JLR marketing to infest car web site comment boards.

The AMG GT appears to fulfill the light weight, high power to weight, efficient aero, and relative affordability thing - for the performance on offer. All that remains is whether it is a proper looker.

I disagree.

Other than the platform it's based on, it's a very beautiful design and if what the majority of the automotive press calls it is true ("muscle car"), then why not. I'm don't think that if I was to buy something from this segment my choice would be the F-Type, but it's nice that it exists. And it's not that bad!

Some of the younger folk might not remember the E-type. I do and had the pleasure and displeasure of owning a 1970 vert. It was the best and worst car I ever owned. When it was running, it was exceptional fun. It was also the most unreliable car I ever owned, leaking parctically every known fluid to mankind. Drop-dead gorgeous though, especially for that time.
