I’m pretty sure there will be an AMG version at some point.

So far both 35 & 45 S are rumoured to be EV only. I know many A/CLA/GLA 35/45S owners and close to zero of them want EV version of their cars, so it would be interesting to see, but maybe there are revisiting the topic at AMG as of today (or earlier) and try to do hybrid version too. 1,5L could be a choice for the 35 version, but cheaper than developing that would be just use M139 in both 35/45S and detune the 35. I'm sure it would be possible to fit it there.. Could eventually just elongate the front section little and fit it there

Tbh I'm happy to sacrifice the CLA to EV only AMGs if it means the V8 gets to return to the C and E classes.

Really? Their current cars look great to me outside of the EQ models. Not sure how much Benz DNA you’re going to get trying to cover an economy car FWD layout.

M

Agree. The strongest ICE design line-up, particularly the saloons.

Mercedes has to stop with this stupid mushed banana look. It is so uninspiring. For once, just make a car with some strong straight lines. But they probably have to fire the Gordon Wagner guy first.

No wonder G class is doing so well, the last Teutonic Mercedes.

It was fun on the first gen CLS. Very fun. But good Lord have they milked the idea to death...... Incredible how stale their design department is. Still harking back to a 20 year old design language on a 2025 car.

It truly blows my mind.
Absolutely hate Gordon's vision and designs. Tasteless, boring and all the same. So glad when that guy finally moves on to something else.

It doesn't. Not at all.
We don't live in a V8 powered C class world anymore. Only with a Time Machine sadly, cause nothing would make me more happy than a proper 6.3 liter NA V8 C-class. Or 4.0 TT V8.

Not sure this will happen, but CLE 63 is our best bet to get a V8 in the sort of same sized car. And you can use it pretty much the same as C/E Class.

Terrible decision. There's pleanty of promise in life in 4 cylinder turbo charged engined. How well or bad are the AMG EQ models selling?
I think so too. But I guess they planned this 5-6 years ago when everything EV looked like a win. AMG EQ aren't selling much, and will be discontinued, the EQS 53 was already announced

They might make a newer AMG-lite/tuned version of the New modular M252 1.5L. could stroke it out to 2L maybe...? That might work for the AMG 35. 190hp out of a 1.5L is pretty great, and they hinted that the design is modular and they might have higher power tunes. Maybe they could squeeze out around 300bhp out of it???

The 45S will be a tricky situation to deal with. Maybe that's where the hybrid can come in.

The visual "tricycle effect" is awkward. But otherwise...well...it's "okay". Nothing more, nothing less IMHO.

It won't be as pretty as the current car, and it's clearly dealing with a lot of visual heft over those wheels, but the sheet metal treatment is crisp, yet still soft and elegant, which is progress on all of their current EVs. The glasshouse also somehow seems more successful. Perhaps aided by the 'one bow' no longer dropping into the front fender.

My guess is that lightbar could be optional as with the new G580, or if not then the hybrid versions could have it optional.

Otherwise as mentioned, someone put GT Coupe grille and bumper onto it, which is pretty good looking but I assume they won't put their exact flagship design on the entry level model

what do you think about this render?

Looks phenomenal. That's your first clue that it's not accurate at all.

It'll have Merc's patented 'from-breath-taking-concept-to-as-boring-as-an-unsalted-pretzel' look. Bulkier, less sharp, less wow-effect and just overall shittier. Thinks concept EQS vs the production version. Probably in black, with big wheels and some sport package it'll look decent enough though.
