M3/M4 [Spy Shots] 2014 BMW M3 (Impressions, SpyPhotos, Renderings)

The BMW M3 is a high-performance version of the BMW 3 Series, developed by BMW's in-house motorsport division, BMW M GmbH. M3 models have been produced for every generation of 3 Series since the E30 M3 was introduced in 1986. The BMW M4 is a high-performance version of the BMW 4 Series automobile developed by BMW's motorsport division, BMW M, that has been built since 2014. As part of the renumbering that splits the coupé and convertible variants of the 3 Series into the 4 Series, the M4 replaced those variants of the BMW M3. Official website: BMW M
According to what I read in several places it appears that today tell us the whole specs, or the M3 and M4 in all its glory??

Damn, this latest version of SCOTT is utterly crap at using the internet. Dude, please get your act together and use the reply (with quote) function properly.

What do you mean you can't "quote"? I am using an ipad to "Reply" to you right now. You work on the Internet, figure it out!

Anyway, quit learning how to use the Internet and post some M3 specs! ;)

The Porsche Carrera 2S powered with 395 hp and weight about 1400 kg. If M3 is powered with 430hp and weight about 1500 kg then I can't see how the M3 is going to be underpowered.

I am sticking with my numbers, they're more specific than the ones in the release!:
Power is 320kW (confirmed in one of the photos released today, the one of the sport display)
Torque is quoted as 500Nm with a plus on the end. I assume that means there's an overboost like the 1M that adds around another 50Nm
Weight is quoted at less than 1500kg. I say it is 1495kg empty.

Sounds incredible. Can't wait for more and some first drives!!

Weight is lovely! Would be killer if EU weight. I pray for it. But it's nice either way.

From the press release -
Its peak torque soars far beyond 500 Newton metres (369 lb-ft), outstripping the figures recorded by the outgoing BMW M3 by well over 30 per cent.

while peak torque has been increased by well over 30 per cent to substantially more than 500 Newton metres,

130% of E92 M3s torque figures would put it at 384lbft/520NM. Does "well over" mean 30.5% or 35%?

Welcome to the Carbon era for BMW M.

Under discussion for later in the model line are CRT , GTS and CSL successors.

All under the weight of the standard car.

Roof is old news.. drive shaft AMG does that already, As is the case with the boot lid.

The other part in the front and on top i can't make out what it is.

Interesting. At a first glance the numbers are quite underwhelming(ie HP & Torque); as a total package it is interesting.

BMW M

BMW M GmbH, formerly known as BMW Motorsport GmbH, is a subsidiary of BMW AG that manufactures high-performance luxury cars. BMW M ("M" for "motorsport") was initially created to facilitate BMW's racing program, which was very successful in the 1960s and 1970s. As time passed, BMW M began to supplement BMW's vehicle portfolio with specially modified higher trim models, for which they are now most known by the general public. These M-badged cars traditionally include modified engines, transmissions, suspensions, interior trims, aerodynamics, and exterior modifications to set them apart from their counterparts. All M models are tested and tuned at BMW's private facility at the Nürburgring racing circuit in Germany.
