Volvo is planning to unveil the V90 on February 18, but some people don’t care a great deal about embargoes which is why the first official images have hit the web.

If you are a fan of the S90 Sedan that was unveiled several weeks ago, most likely you will also appreciate what Volvo’s designers have done to the wagon. The V90 combines the front half of the S90 Sedan with a rear end derived from the sexy 2014 Concept Estate and dare we say the Swedes have done a remarkable job.

It looks considerably less blocky than the V70 as the new midsize wagon adopts a sloped roofline which creates a more dynamic profile. The L-shaped taillights are nicely executed and remain faithful to those seen on the concept.

Riding on the same Scalable Product Architecture as the S90, the new V90 will be offered exclusively with four-cylinder engines. The cream of the crop will be the T8 version featuring a hybrid setup delivering 410 horsepower thanks to a turbocharged and supercharged 2.0-liter engine teamed up to an electric motor. It won’t remain the flagship version forever as Polestar will get its hands on the V90 for a hybrid performance edition.

Expect to see the all-new Volvo V90 show up in Geneva at the beginning of March and go on sale in the second half of 2016.

very neat, these will be all over the place in sweden shortly. the v70 is the family car of choice over here.

I like it, Audi is going to have to work pretty hard on the next A6 Avant, I could see myself jumping back to Volvo for one of these.

That's a very nice design, esp the rear, which to me is the weak spot of the S90. It will sell as hell here, by default.

I like this better than the sedan, ESPECIALLY the rear. These taillights are a much better design, remind me of a BMW.

I like how they incorporate many Swedish aspects in their marketing, very generic and purely Scandanavian in visual content.
Its a good looking car. Has the XC model now eclipsed by the XC90?

To some of us, generic and scandinavian is very much the same. As I se it, this is the innocent part of marketing. The part that people still view as genuine.

Great looking wagon. This will make some E-Class wagon buyers pause in the U.S. for sure. Now wait until Volvo redesigns the XC60 and S60 to look like this. Then comes a coupe and/or a convertible.

This is a great looking wagon, even better looking than the S90 sedan. Its possibly the best looking Volvo since the S40/V40 from the mid 2000's, I really love the interior as well. Volvo are on a roll lately, their new cars are world class and definitely worthy rivals for Audi, BMW and Mercedes.
