M3/M4 Official Pics: M3 Convertible with M DKG

The BMW M3 is a high-performance version of the BMW 3 Series, developed by BMW's in-house motorsport division, BMW M GmbH. M3 models have been produced for every generation of 3 Series since the E30 M3 was introduced in 1986. The BMW M4 is a high-performance version of the BMW 4 Series automobile developed by BMW's motorsport division, BMW M, that has been built since 2014. As part of the renumbering that splits the coupé and convertible variants of the 3 Series into the 4 Series, the M4 replaced those variants of the BMW M3. Official website: BMW M
It must be quite heavy. 0-100km/h in 5.3 sec with such an advanced tranny is not very fast.

I don't really like this! Would prefer the M3 Coupé over this every day - nevertheless I wouldn't buy a M3!! :D

Am disappointed i really dont like the area around the gearbox looks tacky and not nice as the SMG on the E46 m3 gear knob... Looks like an after market 6-speed with SMG gear knob.....

Looks good, very menacing...i guess it must be very, very light, i'm especting 1850kg , it must be a rocket it that 0-100 of 5.3

Very good exterior but interior is a mess, why **** putting wood ?!

Oh Great! Another embargo broken. Just as I originally revealed in a previous post:

The new BMW M3 Convertible.

"Distinctive engagement with the elements."

The Debut will be the Geneva Motor Show in March.

The colors are Jerez Black and Alpine White.

"Kinetic Symphony : The Art of Precision is seven movments"

Here is the new BMW M3 Cabrio : The Expression of Velocity...
Aswell as the new Transmission M D K.

Finally! I don't care much for the Cabrio but I would definitely take the M DKG over the quite average 6-speed manual. :usa7uh: When can we expect it to be fitted on other M3 variants?

It must be quite heavy.

Regular 3er cabrio is about 210kg - 235kg heavier than the 3er coupe with the same engine.

I expect M3 cabrio will be in the same range as well.

Btw, are we sure 5.3sec 0-100km/h is a figure for a car with M DCT, or is this figure for the car with a manual gearbox? :t-hands:

4.8sec for coupe, 4.9sec for sedan ... with manual. 5.3sec for cabrio with M DCT is really quite a disappointing number. :t-hands:

PS: regular 3er cabrio accelerates 0.4sec - 1.0sec (depending on engine) slower 0-100 kmh (0-62 mph) than a regular 3er coupe with the same engine & gearbox. OK, knowing this 5.3sec for M3 cabrio is reasonable.

Yep ... the article says 5.3sec 0-100 kmh with the M DCT, 0.4sec slower than the coupe (?????hinting 4.9sec for the M3 coupe with M DCT?????). 230kg heavier than the coupe (not specified whether with manual or M DCT).

Even if it's with a manual tranny it's a relativerly slow figure since the 135i and 335i accelerates just as fast 0-100, although the M3 cabrio will be faster at higher speeds.

But I'm not phased by the acceleration figure at all, especially when the car will have a price tag just under 70k. I guess that's the price to pay for a metal folding roof.

Can you make a guess of what the diference would be if the cabrio had been a normal canvas roof?

135i cabrio (manual): 5.6sec 0-100kmh (???sec automatic)
335i cabrio (manual): 5.8sec 0-100kmh (6.0sec automatic)
M3 cabrio (M DCT): 5.3sec 0-100kmh
Z4 M roadster (manual): 5.0sec 0-100kmh
M6 cabrio (manual): 4.8sec 0-100kmh

I guess that's the price to pay for a metal folding roof.

This, and due significant body frame structure enhancements - to make the body approx. as stiff as the one of a coupe.

BMW M

BMW M GmbH, formerly known as BMW Motorsport GmbH, is a subsidiary of BMW AG that manufactures high-performance luxury cars. BMW M ("M" for "motorsport") was initially created to facilitate BMW's racing program, which was very successful in the 1960s and 1970s. As time passed, BMW M began to supplement BMW's vehicle portfolio with specially modified higher trim models, for which they are now most known by the general public. These M-badged cars traditionally include modified engines, transmissions, suspensions, interior trims, aerodynamics, and exterior modifications to set them apart from their counterparts. All M models are tested and tuned at BMW's private facility at the Nürburgring racing circuit in Germany.
