Same with M-B using amg ?
at least diesel engines are not called amg
Interesting description of the carSaw it and the XM production version (closed room) at Villa d’este yesterday. Pretty good stuff from BMW. Big, heavy, tech machines is what I’d call them. Interior on point in both, especially, the roof headliner in XM. Interestingly, the 7 LCI will receive same size wheels as XM, 23“.
Another model that is not looking at the car. She is saying with a smile, "Ok Mr. S-class I am going home with you tonight"
Not a diesel powered sports car. It damages the brand identity. So you're implying that M-B diesels aren't nearly as sporty and refined as their petrol counterparts to deserve the sporty label; well maybe other brands' diesels are.
TouchéOh, looks like we were there![]()

Why the model is sitting on that ugly face

We are in the electric age. If you don't say no to a Ferrari or 911 with a diesel engine, I'll agree with you. There you go -- you are arguing identity, which is unarguable against, instead of actual power / torque / acceleration figures and overall driving experience. In that case I'll claim that the AMG EQS models definitely damage the AMG identity (which I don't dislike by the way) with their sumo weight and their lack of a burbly ICE engine under the hood, which is what made AMG iconic in the first place. Pointless discussion if we only refer to the spiritual and the ethereal, and not at all to at least a few objective, mesurable criteria.
That was so true, until the 524td debuted and it was the fastest diesel in the world, you are about 40 years out of date in your assertions. Not a diesel powered sports car. It damages the brand identity.
It cannot be a diesel-powered sports car. I can't see the M in the beginning of the 524td model! That was so true, until the 524td debuted and it was the fastest diesel in the world, you are about 40 years out of date in your assertions.
Not at all. The issue with AMG and diesel engine goes back to Mercedes being involved in the diesel-gate. BMW had no such issues which would lead to brand image demages. Not a diesel powered sports car. It damages the brand identity.
AMG did produce one model with a diesel engine, the C30 CDI AMG with a beefed up 231hp version of its inline 5. It had one of the nicest looking diesel engines ever producedSo you're implying that M-B diesels aren't nearly as sporty and refined as their petrol counterparts to deserve the sporty label; well maybe other brands' diesels are? i.e. it doesn't automatically mean that BMW M's bar is set lower.

Displacement grew from 2.7 to 3.0 litres thanks to an increase in stroke, the turbocharger was swapped for a larger unit, and a more efficient air to water intercooler was fitted. The power jumped from 170 to 231bhp, but the torque gains were even more impressive - while the standard engine made do with 370nm, the AMG version had 540nm of twist to play with. The overhauled five-pot diesel sent its power rearwards via a conventional five-speed automatic gearbox.
The CDI AMG’s five-pot had an impressive output for something not fueled by unleaded. It made for a 0-62mph time of 6.8 seconds which, again, was good going 19 years ago.
