I've always only hand-washed my cars. I allow myself this luxury; it's become a hobby of mine.

I'm struggling with a problem with my current car, though: when I park the car in the garage after hand-washing it at home, the brakes are usually locked the next day (probably due to the residual moisture). I then have to accelerate quite hard in the garage to clear this blockage.

Since I'm still considering buying a W223, I'm wondering if this is also a problem with the W223? Are there any "hand-washers" here in the forum?

Our vehicles are hand washed, and it's not an issue I've noticed with the W223. But I guess brake specifications, climatic conditions, garaged conditions etc. would all play a part.

Have you tried MB forums in your region?

Imaginative example. Shame that the buying experience for such an expensive and personalised experience would suck in your average Merc dealership. Sometimes the journey/experience is more important than the end result. That's where buying theequivalent Aston, Bentley or Rolls Royce is superior, magical and exclusive.

Would probably suck for the buyer of an average Merc. But if you're getting a Manufaktur S63, they'd probably roll out the red carpet.

Is that what would happen at your local MB dealer?

Would the person even know what Manufaktur is? Would they care?
If you're an MB dealership person, you probably would know Manufaktur. And the salesperson would probably notice the insane add-ons they've managed to attach to the sale on an already £180k car, so...I'm sure they'd let the entire dealership know who it was that bought it, and how big the sale was.

I dunno, I'm just guessing. The local for me, does have a nice show area, so they could do a bit of a fancy handover.

I think you are overestimating the knowledge of sales people. Manufaktur is rare. Walk in to a dealer and you'll be speaking to someone used to selling A180 and might have never even driven an S-Class. You might even be ignored for 10-15min. Once you speak to them they might even be scrambling around to find a member of staff who knows about the S-Class or Manufaktur.

Contrast that with walking into a Bentley or Aston dealer. They have a wall of colour options and selection of inlays and materials to touch and look at. They might even offer to bring you a drink rather than pointing to where a filter coffee machine is.

The experience of feeling looked after and loved is secondary to the product. Ferrari does this exceptionally well including inviting prospects to spec the car at the factory.

Ranting aside, This is the type of highly specced S-class that I would look out for in classifields at 60% discount in 5-10 years. I love the exterior colour. It is similar to one that Rolls Royce has used on a few cars.

The difference is that Mercedes sells an A180. Bentley and Aston don't sell low-end luxury cars.
Its probably overkill to have all of this in dealerships that sell anything from an A180 to the AMG GT. Maybe if Mercedes went out and made some special AMG or S-class only dealerships.
